1- OUTLINE HOW THE COATES ‘SAFETY STRATEGY HAS BEEN ALIGNED WITH THE COATES VALUES
At Coates, a culture safety is closely aligned with company values for example
‘’Relentless customer focus- no compromise’’ this value the importance of looking after the Coates customer by getting the job done safely
‘’Working together ‘’–you and your work mates. This acknowledges that the actions of each employee can affect others. It is also ok to ask help
Ownership’’ everybody’s responsibility’’ This is awareness that safety is the responsibility of everyone
Continuous improvement – a journey’’ this recognizes that although it will take time, improvements to safety are possible. This requires being proactive about safety and changing the way employees think.
2- SHOW HOW A CULTURE OF SAFETY IS BEING INTERGRATED THROUGHOUT THE BUSINESS

The culture of safety at Coates aims at integration throughout the business. Adopting company- wide approach that changes the way management and employees think about safety was required to enable safety to become part of business-as-usual. Safety also forms part of the coates human resource strategy. The Coates (HR) strategy is based on putting time and resources in to Coates employees to boost business performance. One of these key areas is developing a culture of safety and making safety a major priority at Coates.

While not all risks of a project can be mitigated, using this objective data based on these metrics will make a huge difference to mitigate risk. Using diagnostic project metrics is like using a thermometer to assess the projects current status. This can help eliminate or mitigate the issue before it becomes unmanageable at the close of the project. Metrics that help improve the decision making, help aid to lower the risk of any project. Diagnostic metrics are comparative measures. The metrics compare a baseline (usually set at time of planning the project) to current project actuals. The actuals are compared to an earned value figure that is determined by where the project should be at that exact moment in time according to the project schedule. These diagnostic metrics will use the actual cost, earned value, and planned value to evaluate schedule variance, schedule performance, cost performance, and cost variance. Schedule performance and schedule variance will evaluate the earned value against the planned value. This will help show if the project is currently on schedule, or if not is it over or under schedule and by how much.
