Mac vs. PC: The Best Computer for Students
The debate about whether to purchase a Mac or a PC has been raging on for decades now and it only seems to be getting juicier. New innovations from both sides of the technological divide have kept each computer’s devotees well-armed with new arguments as to why they think one is superior to the other. Here is an aggregate of points that may help students decide between the two.
The design and looks debate
Aesthetic choice plays a big role when modern computing is concerned. People want a machine that looks good. PCs come from different manufacturers and that gives PC users an incredibly wide selection of designs to choose from. There are businesses that are even focused on purely delivering themed PC designs and those may be more attractive than Apple’s one-design-fits-all approach. Mac users will on the other hand argue that there is some class in simplicity. Macs are by default launched in one sleek model that may please many while still maintaining the consistency of the model. Apple fans love that people are able to see a Macbook air and tell that it is a Macbook air.
Budget and price
The prices of the machines have always been one point of great contention. It is true that there are very few Mac products that get released for less than $1000 dollars while there are many PC variations

That may work but the results and the formats saved may not always be a walk in the park. Some software manufactures have the program released on both platforms but they may always take more time on one platform before they make a successful switch to have both. PCs beat the Mac in terms of software ability, as most programmers work with PC in mind before

Everyone knows of the popular household names Apple and Microsoft. Apple was started by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. They created the first Apple computer in Jobs’ parents garage in the 1970’s. They knew that they had created something great so they called their company Apple. Bill Gates on the other hand created Microsoft. He never made a computer; what he did was create software and put it on other computers. Allegedly, Bill Gates stole Apple’s Macintosh prototype software from Steve Jobs. Gates only received the prototypes because Jobs thought he could trust Gates, but he was sorely mistaken. These two popular household names are similar, but they have differences such as ability to customize, operating system, price, and virus protection.…

First of all, PCs have a better user interface. While Mac users have always boasted of having a computer with a clean, modern look, this changed with Windows Vista, released on January 30, 2007. Windows Vista has translucent window bars, a search bar on the start menu, and tabs on the bottom of the screen, as well as introducing a feature in which users can scroll through all open windows. To contrast, Macs require tedious dragging around of windows, making multitasking with several windows open a nightmare. Additionally, Macs have a detached toolbar that is attached to the top of the screen. Being detached has no functional purpose, constantly takes up space, and does not close when the program window is closed. A stereotype of Macs is that they are more user-friendly. However, starting with Vista, the search bar has allowed users to efficiently search for any desired file, and the sidebar was introduced (similar to widgets), which has “a number of functional and useful gadgets,” (Weisben). Windows 7 (released 2009) got rid of the unnecessary security pop-ups, as well as added a toolbar at the bottom with tabs, preventing the Mac system of dragging around windows. Windows 7 also added the feature that allows a user to make a window full or half screen by dragging it to the top or side of the screen. According to Mitchell Ashley, from networkworld.com, “Gone from Windows 7 are Vista's loads of unnecessary bloatware applications, confusing and poorly designed configuration dialog boxes, and moronic UAC popups that impeded a user's productivity at every turn.”…

Some devices are very expensive and are used for a variety of things from business, simple word processing or gaming. Some device users become strong proponents of one platform or another, for example those who prefer apple commuters will not use a PC and vice versa, citing ability to install viruses and availability of software as their reasons for choosing. I think it is mostly what you learn on that may determine which platform one chooses. All machines imply a savviness of the modern technical world. (Watson, 2012)…

middle of hundred others from a mile away. With their distinctive aluminum casing and signature logo Apple computers are in class of their own. There is no apple-to-apple comparison between them and those from competitors. When all other computer makers are fighting for sales with low price Apple holds its ground and commands premium. And still when you ask any college bound kid what computer he wants without a doubt the answer will be Apple. No wonder Apple enjoys double-digit margin on their products when other PC makers are happy to achieve even 5%. Quality – All Apple products are known for their workmanship and quality. They last for a long time, although most people do not want to hold onto them for too long because they are always itching to get their hands on the next interesting thing. When you do run into problems with Apple products their customer service takes care of them quickly. Anyone who has visited their “Genius Bar” in Apple Store understands this.
