Almost 70% of the total domestic product is transported through road network via trucks, which shows the importance of trucking industry and truck drivers. This whitepaper discusses the rules and regulations, facilities & issues associated with truck drivers at a national level as well as at a global level.

Logistics is one of the key service offerings required by businesses today, and a driver of growth in developing economies. Efficient logistics services provide access to new sources and markets, enabling companies to expand their businesses by increasing choices and capabilities, improving current conditions and future prospects. On the other hand, there are strict rules and regulations that truckers in other countries have to follow. Learning from the past and adopting global best practices, India should focus more efforts on development of facilities for drivers.
