ABSTRACT
The Number Plate Recognition (NPR) has been an area of great commercial and security interests, especially in the current day situation where crime rates have scaled new heights, and traffic density is peaking globally. Implementation of commercial and widely used systems calls for the development of efficient algorithms that would perform number plate recognition on a variety of images acquired using cheaper hardware (even mobile phones) while producing accurate results.
