ABOUT THE PROJECT

This project is made to control the library management system. This is based on Microsoft visual basics 6.0.It is used as front end tool. I have also used MS Access as back end tool. This is made within two weeks.

This project has many features. By this we can control the whole library management system. Some features are given below…

➢ MEMBERS DETAIL
➢ BOOKS DETAIL
➢ ISSUED BOOKS DETAIL
➢ LOGIN FACILITY
➢ FLASH SCREEN

In this project we can add new member, new books. If we want to issue any book we can issue it from table. In this we also have facility to see how many members have been added before. We can have personal detail of each book and person.

Some advantages of our project are…

➢ Easy to handle
➢ Takes less time to process
➢ Less member required
➢ Cheap and beautiful
➢ Secure

OVERVIEW OF VISUAL BASIC

Visual basic is a powerful programming system for developing sophisticated graphical application for Microsoft windows environment.

What exactly is visual basic?

“Visual” refers to the method used to create the GUI, that uses illustration rather than writing numerous lines of code to describe the appearance, function and location of interface elements. “Basic” refers to the BASIC programming language, a widely preferred language by many programmers for its simplicity. Visual Basic has evolved from the original basic language and now contains several hundred statements, function and keywords, many of which relate directly to the windows GUI.

• It is possible to work with ADO (Active X data object) which features a simpler object model then DOA or RDO. • Data environment is a new Active X designer that enables the user to visually manage database connection and commands. • A substantial amount of work to enhance internet capabilities has been done in this version. • The most notable enhancement include Dynamic HTML support. DHTML application is a VB application that contains VB code with DHTML to create a browser base application.

A significant portion of the programming with Visual Basic is accomplished visually i.e. the run time appearance of the program can be viewed during design time itself. This is a great advantage over other programming language because we will be able to change and experiment with our design until we are satisfied with colors, sizes and images are included in the program.

Visual Basic 6.0 for Windows requires at least Microsoft Windows 95/Windows NT 3.51,486 processor and minimum of 16 MB of RAM. A complete installation of the most powerful version of Visual Basic 6.0, the enterprise edition requires more than 250MB of hard disk space.

REQUIREMENT ANALYSIS

Requirement analysis is a software engineering task that bridges the gap between system level requirements engineering and software design. Requirement analysis activities results in the specification of software operational characteristics (function, data and behavior) indicate software interface with other system elements and establish constraints tat software must meet.
