Toes, Ears, and Nose! By: Marion Dane Bauer, Illustrated By: Karen Katz, Copyright: 2003

General Objectives:
a. Children will be able to identify parts of the body.
b. Children will be able to familiarize themselves with the five senses.
c. Children will be exposed to vocabulary words, concepts and expressions related to the book.

Vocabulary list: mittens ears beneath breeze looking fingers scarf shirtsleeves teeth eyes boots nose jeans mouth blanket toes hide protect tongue under two elbows belly button glasses body

Expression list:
You will find all of me! My coat protects my back. Inside my mittens I've got fingers.

Fine motor activities:
Toes, Ears, & Nose:
Materials: Toes, Ears, & Nose (A lift-the-flap Book)
Directions: Teacher will read the book aloud. Children will identify the body parts on each page.

Sign my body:
Materials: American Sign Language book
Directions: Teacher will interpret parts of the body in sign language. Students will identify and imitate the teacher.

Life-size me:
Materials: butcher paper, chalk, crayon
Directions: Teacher will cut out butcher paper the size of the student. Student will lie on top of the butcher paper. Teacher will use chalk or crayon to outline the students' body onto the butcher paper. Teacher will draw additional body parts and clothing that may be too difficult for the child to draw. Student will color his/her life-size drawing. Teacher will then review the student on the body parts.

Hands and Feet Certificate:
Materials: washable
