Learning Styles
Sequential learning learn things from previous experiences. They tend to figure out difficult problems from what they learned already. They follow logical pathways to find conclusions. They learn from putting the pieces of the puzzle together
Global learners learn things all over the place. They absorb material randomly. They solve difficult problems very quickly but struggle with coming up with an explanation. Even if they understand they can’t relate small details.
Active learners tend to learn thing by doing them. They have to explain what they are doing to others. Sitting through a lecture is not beneficial for this kind of learner. Reflective Learners think thing out first. They typically don’t work in groups. They work alone.
Sensing learning like learning facts. They are intuitive learners. They learn by applying concepts to the real world. They are practical and careful. They memorize facts and are good with hands on things. They resent being tested on material not covered in class.
Intuitive learners like innovations. They do not like repetition. They are comfortable with difficult material. They are also good in mathematics. They do not memorizing and calculations.
Visual learners learn by seeing things. Charts graphs movies and diagrams work well with this kind of learning.
Verbal Learners learn by word of mouth, they need written and spoken explanations.
Improvements
You can improve sequential learning by strengthening you global skills. Skim through chapters that will be covered in class to get an over view.
You can improve global learning by preparing an outline in logical order. Also Learn patience and understand that the bigger picture will come eventually.
You can improve active learning by trying to reflect on what you are about to do.
You can improve reflective learning by getting in a study group from time to time. Also, actively participate in class discussions. Know that you can always change your mind if you want about a decisions.

    What is reflective practice? In short, it’s a practice that helps you become an active learner. Many of us, including myself, may be considered or interpreted as passive learners. Passive learning goes a bit like this: we read textbooks, we follow everything our instructor or teacher tells us (sometimes we tune out), we write exams and then…we forget what we learned.     According to Petress (2008), active and passive learning is often discussed in education journal articles and presented to teachers at in-service meetings. Active learning is the opposite of passive learning just as the active learning student is different from the passive learning student. The passive student is solely dependent on the teacher and what the teacher teaches in the classroom. The active learner depends slightly on the teacher, but takes learning a little further toward individualized, intrinsic learning. They are not overly dependent on a teacher because actively learning makes the student a partner in the process of learning.
