1. Introduction From an early age I found learning hard and in my early educational years I noticed I would stop paying attention in class when I lost interest. The only class I did enjoy and excel at was I.T (Information Technology), due to it being a practical class where by I followed a set of written instructions and was able to visually see the completed task. I decided to pursue a career in IT after finishing school because I had a keen interest in the field. Due to my learning preference I decided that I wanted to have a career that had a much more hands on approach which led me on to become a Personal Trainer. 2. Learning Style Analysis There has been much research done into learning theories and styles. The two I’m using are Kolb’s Experimental Learning Theory and Honey and
Mumford’s Learning Style. Kolb’s theory (Www2.le.ac.uk, 2014), is influenced on earlier work done by other educational theorist such as John Dewey, Kurt Lewin and Jean Piaget but Kolb was the first to represent his theory as a four stage learning process directly linking individuals learning pattern based upon one of the four stages
(Nwlink.com, 2014). Much of Kolb’s theory is based around the individual’s mental development (McLeod, 2014). According to Kolb’s (Learning Theories and Models Summaries, 2014).theory learning is a process where knowledge is changed into experiences and reflected upon, absorbing the information to make our own theories and testing the information in our daily lives. Through testing we pick up new

Kolb’s theory is based on 4 cycles. It starts with doing something as an individual, a group of people or even a team in Kolb’s cycle you cannot learn while watching or reading you must do something to learn, then on the second stage you need to stop for a while review what happen and experience it and start asking question and communicate with other members of the group, abstract Conceptualization is the stage of understanding what happened and why it happened in this stage we need to know what we have done and what we know, the final stage we give time to plan if next time the experience happens what are we going to do and what action will be taken . To summarize Kolb is based on learning by doing things (simplypsychology [published 2010, updated 2013])…

My family and the goals that I want to achieve in my life are what motivate me to learn and take part in activities that help me towards my goals. Beginning my Master program is the leading thing that changed my thinking towards learning and learning methods. I consider myself to fit within the Aslanian and Brickell (1980) study that focused on life transitions as motivators for seeking out learning experiences. (MCB p. 62) I realized that in the past, going to college was something that changed my life and my thinking about “learning” and that has had an impact on my learning in the present and my career in the future. Career and family transitions, matching 56 percent of the learners within the sample, were also big reasons for me to return to school. Focused Learning activities involving content, critical thinking and reflection support my learning development. I consider myself to be a visual, verbal, and logical and a solitary learner and the use of these focus learned activities help me retain the information. Assigned readings, flashcards and PowerPoints help me with my learning which channel the content activities. Constant logical researching, responses to assignments and self-study and reflection on the learning are also things that help me when I learn. I learn both within a formal setting and also online learning. I enjoy having the structure that comes…

Following today's lecture on learning styles, I have come to realize that every individual prefers different learning styles and techniques. Individuals reaction to learning, is subjected by their learning style. Although, every individual has a mix of different learning styles, but there is always a dominant style of learning compared to other learning styles. I strongly feel that depending on the circumstance, I am capable of using another learning style, simply because none of our learning styles are fixed, and I can also develop the ` ability in less dominant styles, and as well further develop styles that I am used to. Based on the learning preference assessment, my preferred learning style is the sequential style. As a sequential learner,…
