Learning Outcome Analysis
The learning outcome which students seemed to be most successful was learning how to build self-esteem and the mental disorders that can be associated with self-esteem, using communication skills, and the characteristics of mental and emotional health. The outcome was the best as stated before because most of my students scored excellent on this unit test, along with the assignments and activities that were associated with it. Out of the three periods of health taught and of the 86 students, 75 of those students received an A on the unit exam. There were 9 students who received a B and only two students who received a C or lower. Reasons associated with the success of this chapter could be that students were more engaged with the activities …show more content…
The test results from the unit showed results of a struggle compared to the above-mentioned learning outcome. Out of the three periods of health taught and of the 86 students, 46 students received an A on the unit test. There were 22 students who received a B and 18 students received lower than a C. Even though this data still isn’t that bad, it was definitely lower than the data mentioned in the first learning outcome. I think students struggled with this outcome because there was more material associated with the unit. Even though reviewing is something I did with this chapter, the students had trouble remembering parts of it. I know my students regularly struggle on tests with the fill in the blank questions. I think, for next time, it might be more beneficial if I allow my students to practice writing out answers during formative assessments. This way the students can practice and are more able to see what still needs to studied to be successful for the test. I like to use activities with all of my lessons, however, some lessons go better with others and it kind of depends on the chapter as to how easily it connects. I feel like my students do better with hands-on activities, rather than me lecturing the whole time. By doing this, I feel like lessons will go smoother in the future …show more content…
Whether it is for a test, quiz, or homework assignment, learning how to differentiate for the needs of each student is key. I also learned from the TCPP that incorporating group lessons and student insight is important in teaching subject material. Steps that can be taken to improve areas listed above could be to incorporate more student-based discussion. Students do not all learn in the same way, so coming up with new ways to teach material differently is important so that one student doesn’t get bored with the same teaching method each day. Going to professional development meetings, along with talking to co-workers would be a great start on improving ways of teaching in the classroom. Learning about different technology resources would also be a step to improving student learning in the classroom. Also, allowing the students to talk to me on areas they need help on would be a great way to start the class discussion each day. We could even briefly review important material that would be needed for test day. All in all, the TCPP has taught me important concepts needed to be an outstanding teacher now and in the years to

    Positive relationships with children and young people are important for them emotionally and socially. When children feel more comfortable in the setting they can separate from parents easily and they can participate with the learning activities and this can help their development, when you have a strong teacher/nursery officer relationship with a child they are less likely to show unwanted disruptive behaviour because there is a mutual respect and the child respects the boundaries, and if they do decide to act out because of how strong the relationship you will recognise the child’s needs and be able to meet them.     I remember stressing about test throughout school, and then college. My students’ main focus should be learning and fully understanding the information, instead of learning how to master a test. I have seen throughout the years how much emphases are but on these standardized test or test in general. I do feel that assessments are important, but I do feel that formative assessments are more beneficial to me. I want to know that my students understand the information while I am teaching, instead of two weeks later when they are tested on a whole chapter or unit. Most states are given standardized and I will prepare my students for the test, but I want to focus mostly on the content and not stressing them out over a test. Some students aren’t very good test takers, which I wasn’t one when I was growing up either. I can relate to students who know the information but freeze up when they take a test. When I create my syllabus I will rate my summative test as my least percentage for their grade. I want them to know that homework, practice, projects, and participation are really important. If I have students that are really smart, they may not feel the need to participate in class and on projects because they know they will ace the test.     Outcome-based education is simply referred to student-centered learning methods that focuses on the student itself. The student would make a demonstration of the skills they had learned. It is different in traditional nursing wherein OBE does not require a particular style of teaching. The student is open to use any kind of method they are comfortable with for learning.
