How do I define who I am? How do I implement change within my team? What kind of change agent am I today? What kind of change agent will I become in the future? How will I become an effective change agent within the organization that stresses inclusion? When I started this course, my way of thinking about leadership was different. I saw change as an important enterprise, which a manager must use to succeed. However, my understanding and perception of change dealt with a focus on developing competencies to succeed within a particular position and motivating that team towards a common goal. However, I had not realized how important is to critically analyze and reflect on the tremendous implications change and inclusion has in leadership and on an organization. Now, I view leadership, change and inclusion differently with more critical analysis and better recognize the interconnectedness between all…

The Army leader serves to lead others; to develop the environment, themselves, others and the profession as a whole; and to achieve organizational goals. Core competencies are those groups of actions universal to leaders, across cohorts and throughout organizations. They provide a clear and consistent way of conveying expectations for Army leaders. Leader competencies can be developed. Leaders acquire competencies at the direct leadership level. As the leader moves to organizational and strategic level positions, the competencies provide the basis for leading through change. Leaders continuously refine and extend the ability to perform these competencies proficiently and learn to apply them to increasingly complex situations.…

Pastor Dr. Stacy Spencer reminds us every class that “all of us have room and that’s room for improvement”. I believe this with everything in side of me which calls my attention to the five areas of Exemplary Leadership. Within those areas of leadership there is one area that I may focus on and pay close attention to as I am developed into a great leader. There are other areas that I have to improve in and continue to sharpen my tools, but this area requires the most attention. When it comes to the area of “Challenge the Process” this is my weakest area in the Exemplary Leadership Module. This area is the weakest because when operating in this area you have to make moves and take risk. I understand that God has not given us the spirit of fear…
