Leadership
“Leader: A person of Strong Character and integrity”
Thesis Statement: Leadership is an action and not a position

Are you an aspiring leader? Do you want to be a part of it? Are you willing to be a role model? Good communicator? And be a servant leader? This essay is all about Leadership. According to Wikipedia and dictionary, Leadership is defined as a process of social influence in which one person can enlist the aid and support of others in the accomplishment of a common task. The purpose of this essay is to explain further that, Leadership is an action and not a position. This explanation wants to show, you want to be a leader because you want to give service and not because you want everyone to know that you have a position. You give service, because you want to influence and inspire people. As the quote says, “Great leaders tell stories to inspire their employees.” Being a leader is not an easy job. You have to dedicate yourself and show your willingness in serving people. There’s a joke about leadership, “When the leader is away, the opponent will play.” I became a leader. I had an experience related to this joke. I was out of town to attend a seminar in Cebu with my fellow leaders. I left my plans to my friend, who used to be my opponent, and told them to present it to the head. Surprisingly, when I came back, the head called my attention because no plans were presented. My heart was scattered into pieces, knowing that my plans were sabotage. I thought this experience would hinder me in giving service. Truly, in giving service, a lot of obstacles will try to pull you down. In a world of leadership, there are two kinds of people; leaders and followers. I’ve read a lot of essays about leadership. According to them, “followers are the people that never take a leadership role in any activity, while leaders are the ones that use their leadership skills to make a difference in this world”. It was also mentioned, “Leadership is not something you can learn

Leadership is more than simply being in charge. Its most important aspects are humility and trustworthiness. Being seen, however, is not one of the aspects of leadership. The best leaders are the ones who do things behind closed doors without bragging about their accomplishments. Someone is always watching and looking at you as a role model, even though you may not think so. True leaders are not swayed by peer pressure. They don’t always go with the most popular answers, but their decisions are based on doing what’s right. Leadership is the act of standing out amongst others. There are many followers but only few leaders.…

Leadership is getting people to do things that they would not normally do on their own. There are several types of leadership styles and different styles work for different people. When most people think of leadership, they think of that coach yelling at his team before the big game, or a general talking to his soldiers before battle. In day to day life, in most circumstances, people are not getting ready to into the big game or run off into battle, so how do you lead them?
