Language and Literacy Essay The achievement of oral language is a normal development for the performance of most children. The child’s (ren) understanding to communicate will began to increase with age, however, it will not establish the growth increase process right away but it will contribute to the perfection progress as the children starts to read and transform into a more experienced reader. Learning and communicating more adequately requires one to be delighted in practicing and modeling to ensure the consistency. Also the child’s (ren) will not only need to be able to comprehend but will have the capability to correspond and put together their thoughts completely that would lead conclusively to listening and reading comprehension. With the preeminent goal of conventional literacy instructions in Kindergarten thru 3rd grade, in today schools, will help to encourage perspicacity and formulate the meaning to written text. By this it will scrutinize the oral language skills and make it indispensible for young children to start school. Also it’s the focal point in developing oral language to determine a more wide range of proficiency for success in reading in the future. Not to mention, it gives the educators recommendations to help the children to expedite the reinforcement of these skills (oral language). Learning to read and write at a high level of proficiency is a lifelong process; however, it is well established that the early childhood years serve as an important foundation for subsequent literacy development (Neuman & Dickinson, 2001; Snow, Burns, & Griffin, 1998; Whitehurst & Lonigan, 2001). The degree to which children acquire requisite literacy skills is

    The book I have selected is Brown Bear Brown Bear What Do You See? (Martin, B. & Carl, E 1996) to use in a preschool classroom. This book strongly supports the relationship between language development and literacy as it consists of rhyming words with a very predictable storyline. It’s colorful paper collage pictures definitely keeps the students fully focused on the story as they pages turn.     Learning to read and write as a child is an experience that all can relate to. The average child learns to read and write at the early ages of three and four. Developing literacy at an early age is crucial to academic development as well as to performance in life.
