Moreover, homework isn't only wasting the student's time but the teachers time as well. By marking and grading homework, teachers are wasting their time. So teachers, please don't blame us the we wasted your time. Some people assume that homework is useful for teachers to watch student's progress but I firmly believe that homework is sent home to test the parents, not the children. I think that teachers can watch the student's progress in school better because teachers don't know that at home who did the homework, the parent, the student or the internet (Google)??????? People also think that homework helps parents to understand that the school holds high goals for students. But, I consider that school work is harder than homework and that means that parents can understand that the school holds higher goals than they think. Furthermore, homework becomes terrible if no one can help you. If no one can help you then you are doing work that you don’t understand, and if you don’t understand it what’s the point having the work that you can’t even do. I really, strongly believe that more kids would stay in school and have a better learning experience if they did not have the stress of homework.…
Imagine a world where students come home from school and take the time to unwind and relax. It has been proven that almost three quarters of Canadian parents think that homework is a household stress. So why is homework still being assigned at schools, especially for younger grades? In recent years, the question of whether or not homework should be banned from elementary schools and limited to one hour per weekday in high school has been widely discussed. According to a Stanford Researcher, too much homework can negatively children. It takes their lives away from school, where family, friends, and social activities matter (Parker). The opponents of this educational approach argue that if students are not given homework to do, they will not become successful in the future. However, banning homework from elementary school and limiting it to one hour per weekday in high school is beneficial in terms of health, academics, and real world experiences.…
Homework doesn't take all day; realistically you will have time for other things. Homework allows practice for future endeavors, and teaches responsibility and organization skills. Homework allows children to work at their own pace, without peer pressure and afraid of falling behind during class. Homework allows time to study for tests, and go over work that you did in class. Reason being yes I understand that different classes have different papers and some have more worksheets than others but…
The homework strengthens family ties, first because the homework helps to inform parents about the education their children are receiving, academic processes, and the progress and difficulties of their children and second helps improve communication between parents and children, is an opportunity have communication with children, parents also discover interests, feelings and experiences while learning together.…
They don’t have time to do a lot of homework. There are team sports, music lessons, religious activities, and other activities. Many parents feel like it’s their job to help their kids if they need help finishing their homework. You might say that “yes, kids may be busy, but part of growing up is learning to balance extracurricular activities with the demands of schoolwork” (scope magazine, pages 20- 21, lines 64-67), but if kids are so busy that they can barely even spare enough time to eat dinner, how are they going to have time for an hour and a half of homework? Parents can help the kids finish their homework faster without giving away the answer.…
Does homework really help students improve their learning skills like teachers say it does? Well according to my research 75% of students say homework does nothing but give stress & anxiety. Me personally I agree with the statistics homework does give stress, I just don’t approve homework. It just isn’t fair for us students, because we go to school eight hours a day to get our education and do work, why would we want to do more work after hours when we get home.…
I've been in school for 10 years now and I get hammered with homework almost everyday. I know for a fact i'm not the only kid/teenager that feels like it takes away from a fun healthy childhood. When i get home I want go out to the lake and fish or ride a atv around with my friends not sit in my boring house doing homework! And we wonder why America is lazy these days. Teachers must get entertained watching us slave over work day and night. I'm about to end this with my claims and put an end to unnecessary work.…
Students in America should get less homework on daily basis. Too much homework can cause stress and other health issues. Students work more than the recommended amount of time on homework, and this takes away from their family time, free time, as well as for sleep. Shouldn’t students get less homework so that they can be happy and have more time with family and friends? When a student gets home, he or she usually pulls out a big stack of paper that is due the next day. The most of the times they say “ I can’t finish all of this, it’s too much.” After a big lecture from their parents, they’re still stuck doing all of this work.…
The biggest and most important reason kids should not have homework is because they need time to rest their minds after having 7 hours of school. First of all, there’s a lot of pressure…
Also, based on the article, “No More Homework?,” in paragraph 3, the author states that parents have been pushing back against homework. They believe that their children need more time for family and other activities. Sometimes my parents do not appreciate that fact that I have a lot of homework because it means I have less time for my family and activities, such as going to parties and going out. Finally, homework often has a bad effect on students. According to the article “No More Homework?,” in paragraph 8, the author says, “The disadvantages of homework are clear to everyone such as exhaustion, frustration, loss of time to pursue other interests, and often a decrease of interest in learning."…
Family is important; especially parents, and when a child is missing quality time with his or her parents it could do emotional damage. When the weather is nice, children should be outside playing with friends, neighbors and family rather than sitting in the house at the kitchen table working out math problems. There have been many of my personal experiences and one’s I have witnessed, where a child could not enjoy the nice weather or go play and get exercise because of the amount of homework they had to do. There are not enough hours in the day for school, homework, playtime, dinner, bath/shower, family time, and then bed. On top of parent’s busy schedules, they have to do their child’s homework and projects. Homework is important to have to help students better themselves, but it should not be five nights a week. There should be optional assignments with teacher comments pointing out student’s weak subjects that students can take home and it will be for the parents to decide if and when their child will participate. Having a few mandatory homework assignments over the week would be fair to the children. It is important that teachers try to fix this problem, and start to focus on how many negative affects homework is having on many students and their…
Imagine staying up all night working on homework. Then when the alarm goes off in the morning. You only had six hours of sleep, then you drag yourself to school and learn nothing because of how tired you are. Do you want our future kids to lack education? This is a normal situation for the average teenager today. Homework can cause sleep deprivation and can cause a lack of education in school. Which is a serious problem knowing that these kids are our future. Homework is harmful to students.…
To start with, kids should have no homework because they can spend more time with friends and family. Sometimes kids want to do things that they can only do at a young age but they can’t because they might have lots of homework. Kids already have to spend seven hours at school, it’s just not fair that they also have to spend 1 to 2 hours at home trying to finish their homework.…
As every teenage student knows, being tired and feeling exhausted is a common mood. Parents are always making sure that their kids are on track. Parents want to make sure that their kids have the best possible education they can. Author Alexander Robbins states that "For thousands of families, school admission process begins before a child turns one; in several cities that's how manic the competition has grown to get into elite preschools and kindergarten programs" (107). Although it is great that we have adults and teachers that are watching over students and challenging them, children get very stressed and pressured very easily, especially when students are loaded with homework. If teachers regulated the amount of homework that they gave…
Homework is an infringement on family time. Many of the big media that would otherwise say that homework is important also decry the fact that kids aren’t spending enough time talking with their families. It is not possible to create an atmosphere of deep family connection when the parents and the students are all working three or four hours a night at home. You need many hours’ together, playing games, reading books, fixing the house together, going to movies, cooking for friends to have a balanced family life. Being together only on weekends is a crime.…
