In the movie, Joy was very poor at first, so when she first approached her mop designs, she used her daughter's crayons and paper and she got ideas from things in her daughter's room, such as the endless loop of rope that is on her mop that was inspired by a dolls hair. Also Trudy stopped giving her money so she needed to take out a second mortgage on her house on top of being over 500,000 dollars in debt, Gerhart the man that ran the manufacturing plant that made the parts for her mops was stealing from her (both molds and money), and she had to get over the loss of her grandmother Mimi who was the person who believed the most in her and Mimi was the one who pushed her to be a better version of herself. She overcame these by starting to sell more and more mops off the QVC because she took over the place of the man who didn’t know how to use her mop, contacting many bosses of Gerhart and discovering he was lying to her so she made him pay her back by having his boss sign a contract and pay her back the money he scammed her out of, and the loosing of her grandmother was sad, but it gave her the power to show people that deserved to be respect and not to mess with her. Some of the people that helped were her Mimi and her daughter Cristy they helped her because they both always believed in Joy and supported

However, with courage, pride, and trust the players and coaches passed all the barriers of racism and made history at the seemingly subpar school that would go down in the books forever.…

The most important take away from this movie, one that all the emotions and Riley learn, is that not all memories (especially the core memories) have to be only one emotion, they can be, but in most situations, it’s okay to feel upset and happy in the same memory. For instance, when Joy finds the memory of Riley when she and her teammates lost the hockey game. At first the “memory bubble” is blue with sadness, but then the team comes over and hoists her up in the air, which cheers her up turning the bubble golden again. This process is called reframing, or in this case reframing memories. Joy at the beginning of the movie only saw things in an upbeat manner, so therefore all of the memories she was in control of were happy because that is the mindset Riley was in.…

Having your book turned into a movie is a dream come true: the genius of your mind on the big screen for all to see, coupled with a small dose of fame and fortune. It is everything an author could hope for. Not J.D. Salinger, though. It is well known that the brilliant American author refused to sell his movie rights. Filmmakers had to craft the little pieces of Salinger in their hearts into other, Salinger-inspired stories. One of these stories is played out in the film The Royal Tenenbaums. You don’t have to look closely to find the bits of the Glass family stuck in this tale.…
