The Way to Success In the Autobiography, “The Letter A” by Christy Brown, He shares a turning point in his personal life starting as a newborn in the Rotunda Hospital on June 15, 1932. After going through difficult struggle in Brown’s life, He was pronounced that he has cerebral palsy and was not normal like the rest of the other human beings; however, the only person to believe that there was a chance for him to be like the rest of the others were his mother. She was very persistent that Brown was able to be the same like the rest of their family until one day he proves to himself that he is able to make very little contact by drawing an ‘A’. That was proof of “key to mental freedom”. (118) I agree with Brown that there are a lot of ways to accomplish anything that life throws at you. It also shows that when you are at your worst, you are able to get back up and succeed in what you were doing no matter how many times you have tried. Brown was able to take a chalk without any attempt and after he was motivated by his mother to draw the letter ‘A’ and it gave Brown that mindset that he was able to do other things with the help and courage from his own mother and perhaps his family. Brown was able to break through that boundary and show the world that he had the mental of freedom. Not only Brown had to learn from his mistakes, there were many others that tried to accomplish and eventually succeeded. Helen Keller was one of the examples. She was struck blind, deaf and was mute; however, with the help of Keller’s teacher she was able to help Keller make progress with the ability to speak and communicate. With Keller’s illnesses and the struggles she had to face, it took much needed patience for her to learn as well. It also took Brown patience and courage to slowly learn how to communicate with letters and words. Overall, this shows that it takes a couple of tries to accomplish something even if you are not at your best; there will always be a many mistakes and
