Task 1 with output

To: Shuzworld
From: Robert Hixon Director of Operations
When we face challenges in life that are far beyond our own power, it 's an opportunity to build on our faith, inner strength, and courage. I 've learned that how we face challenges plays a big role in the outcome. Stay ambitious & determined and you can Never fail.

A) Work Flow
The current workflow needs to address how to best organize the assembly line so that it is most efficient, and what metrics can be provided in determining the correct number of workstations. My recommendation to improve work flow is to utilize assembling and balancing strategies in Shuzworld’s Shanghai Production
Facility (SSPF). Due to the circumstances surrounding this issue, I have chosen this decision analysis tool because the goal of using a layout strategy is “to develop an effective and efficient layout that will meet the firm’s competitive requirements” (JGT2 power point presentation). Proper job layouts must support a business 's competitive priorities: process, flexibility, customer contact, and quality of work life. Although there are a variety of layouts to choose from, I recommend using the Product Oriented Layout in order to maximize the long run efficiency of operations by achieving the following: Higher utilization of space, equipment and people, improved flow of materials, information and people, improved employee morale and safer working conditions, improved customer interaction, and more flexibility. The current budget produces 6 workboots in one hour with a 40 hour work week making this the most appropriate layout for the production of footwear as it allows for the relationship between our best personnel and machine utilization for the repetitive and continuous production of our product.
I recommend that management organize this production process into 5 workstations with the appropriate

Catherine Pang provided the assembly schedule which denotes cycle time which is the maximum amount of time the boot is allowed to spend at each workstation. Upon initial inspection of the workflow, it is noted that a “bottleneck” is noted due to a variance between stations B and C (with a three minute difference) and stations E and F (with one minute difference). Both variances in sequential steps cause…

“Adversity has the effect of eliciting talents which in prosperous circumstances would have lain dormant.” What the Roman poet Horace was saying was that when there is an obstacle in our way, our true colors will radiate. I could not agree more. When we as human beings feel passionate about achieving a goal, we may learn something new of ourselves, maybe a new trait that we did not know we possessed, when we reach new heights we did not know we could push ourselves towards. Challenges are similar to tests. Challenges are faced every day, but how we respond to them determines how strong we really are. Prime examples are superheroes and students that move dramatically.…

For one thing, everyone has his or her own potential to deal with difficulties competently that even he or she is not awarded of. Usually it is been hidden somewhere deep that people cannot realize that. Being in a hard condition which would simulate people’s unknown potential, they would find it surprising that they are actually capable coping with hardship. Also, generally, people would like to stay in their comfort zones in order to minimize the possibilities of encountering adversity. They would tend to choose a way with less challenge. Then their potential will never be brought out either by external pressure or their own initiatives. Actually, we do need challenges to force ourselves to dig out our best capacity which would make us stronger. For instance, it was my first time to come to America myself. To be honest, I was not very independent when I was at home because my parents took care of me a lot. They always tried to help me with anything even though I was able to do it. But when I firstly arrived at JFK airport, I was lost in crowds and confused by all those unfamiliar languages. The feeling of enthusiastic expectation I had before I stepped into this country disappeared and was replaced by fear and frustration. Worse still, after all the luggage was picked up by others, I still could not find my two big pieces of luggage which were almost all of my belongings. Watching everyone leaving hurriedly, I felt so helpless. After struggling to try to figure out what to do with tears rising into my eyes, I decided to ask the staff for help. The first one I asked…
