I believe Christianity is based on life and teaching of Jesus as presented in Old and New Testament. There are three largest groups of Christianity in the world; they are the Roman Catholic Church, the Eastern Orthodox Church and the protestant sect which has many other denominations in it (McCalman 2009). As a young Catholic, I was to memorize many prayers, one being the Apostle Creed. In the creed it is stated that “Jesus suffered, died and was buried and in the third day He rose again, He will come to judge the living and the dead.” I was taught that He will return to judge and everyone who believes in Him and they will be given…

The history of Christianity goes back into Jewish ancestry and revolves around the 300 prophecies in the Old Testament, which reveals the upcoming of a Jewish Messiah who would be a Savior of humanity. Around 2000 years ago this prophecy was fulfilled by the birth of Jesus from the Virgin Mary in the town of Bethlehem in the land of Israel. He brought a hope of delight to the poor and rejected ones. The New Testament book of Luke (1:26-38) and Matthew (1:18-25) explains the virgin birth of Jesus. The birth of Jesus Christ also claimed a revolution and the revival of the teachings of Judaism. In the beginning Christianity was considered as a sect of Judaism. As Jesus said, "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." (Matthew 5:17). But later on, the teachings of Jesus established the foundation of Christianity. The concept of salvation and eternal peace blessed the gloomy hearts.…

The history of Christianity concerns the Christian religion, its followers and the Church with its various denominations, from the first century to the present. Christianity was founded in the 1st century in the Levant region of the Middle East by Jesus of Nazareth, who is prophesied in the Old Testament to be the Christ or chosen one of God. This religion has been around since 4BC-30AD (the time of Christ). The early Christians believed that there were seven heavens, one physically above the other. Like the latter, Christianity was originally a movement of oppressed people it first appeared as the religion of slaves and emancipated slaves of poor people deprived of all rights of peoples subjugated or dispersed by Rome. Christianity developed out of Judaism in the 1st century A.D. and Palestine was its origin. It is founded on the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, and those who follow him are called "Christians." Until the later part of the 20th century, most followers of Christianity were in the West, though it has spread to every continent and is now the largest religion in the world. Traditional Christian beliefs include the belief in the one and only true God, who is one being and exists as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and the belief that Jesus is the divine and human Messiah sent to the save the world. Christianity is also noted for its emphasis on faith in Christ as the primary component of the religion. The sacred text of Christianity is the Bible, including both the Hebrew scriptures (also known as the Old Testament) and the New Testament. The belief of Christianity has influenced the culture of the areas in which it is currently practiced because its believers gather at churches for worship, fellowship, and study, and engagement with the world through evangelism and social action. Also the Bible itself has influenced culture because it is responsible for much of the language, literature, and fine arts we enjoy today as its artists and composers were heavily influenced by its writings.…

The Christian worldview includes monotheism which is the belief in one God. Not only do Christians believe in a personal, knowable Creator but he believes in the Trinity. The Trinity is God being in three parts: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. To most people, this is very confusing because they don’t understand how God can be three in one. In this case, Christians go to heaven not because of their works but because of God’s grace. God displayed His grace when He died on the cross for us. Christians get most of their information from the Bible. This is the foundation for a Christian’s philosophy.…
