Jayla As A Role Model
My sister Jayla, leaving for the Military is an event that influenced my development. My sister was more than just my sister she was my role model, the person I went to for everything, and she was my best friend. When she told me she had decided to join the U.S. Marine Corps I didn’t know how to feel, or what to say, I was sad but so proud at the same time. I cried all the time but tried to hide my emotions from her, because I knew this is what she wanted. During the process of reaching her goal to be a Marine it taught me some very important lessons that influenced my development. An important lesson I learned was that you have to work for what you want. Her will and determination to achieve her goal made me realize if you work hard enough and set your mind to something …show more content…
My sister leaving was the worst thing that had happened to my family. I have a very close family, we talk to each other about everything, and if one of us is upset we’re all there to help. My whole family was devastated to hear she was leaving but we all stuck together and helped each other. My family knew me and my sister were close and they did everything they could possibly do in order to try and make me feel better, and they always made sure I never felt alone through the process. Throughout the journey of my sister being gone me, my parents, and little brother became even closer than we were, because we all helped each other, and always stuck together throughout the hard times. This has influenced my development by making me realize if I’m ever in trouble or just need someone my family will be there for me. This has helped my family grow as one and made us realize we might not always be together physically but no matter what we will always be together mentally in our hearts. It taught me what family really means and I hope one day I have a family that is just as helpful, loving and supportive as mine is

My first life lesson is “ Everything happens for a reason”. The symbol is a fire burning, bright, scolding to the touch, and full of colors with small strips of blue showing the hotspots. I learned this life lesson from my sister when she fell into a burning fire pit in 2015. It was horrific at the time and it still is, but I realized when she laid by me so tired and sleepy from playing all day not taking a second thought about anything she does. That she is who she is because of that. If that major event would have never happened to her, she wouldn't be who she is, she wouldn't take chances, and she would live in fear, taking second thoughts about everything.…

I was deprived of experiencing that personal life since everything I had was something everyone in my family wanted to poke their noses into. My things became our things. My business became our business. Nothing was considered mine. However, being at home with my siblings 85% of the time helped to mold my aspirations in life. My siblings would yell my name countless times asking for help, assured that I would always be there. I came to realize the humanitarian spirit within me, which was required to become what I aspired to be: a neurologist.…

Michael Chrichton once said, "If you don't know your family's history, then you don't know anything. You are a leaf that doesn't know it is part of a tree." This quote proves the significance of family and knowing where you come from. It is all part of what Russell Baker says is the "braided cord of humanity", meaning that your past that will bring you to your future. This is why, because of family struggles, the trust family's hold, and the past each comes from, these help contribute to what makes a family. Every family has their own personal struggles, and in the end, the outcome is always stronger…

Lastly, the final chapter in my story, for now, is my oldest sister going to college. She is attending Baldwin Wallace and is majoring in physical therapy. She chose BW because they offered her a scholarship for her grades. When my sister was home, we did not really get along until the summer before she left. There were so many changes in our life because of the loss of our grandpa, her graduation, her attending college, and traveling to the Dominican Republic for a mission trip to build homes. Her experiences on the mission trip helped me realize how much we are taught by attending St Paul High School and what I have been taught by my family. This is a defining moment in my life because her going away, strengthened my relationship with her.…

One grateful lesson I learned is that life does not always go the way you want to. Although it is sad to accept that things will not always go your way, it is good to know that how you react to what life gives you is how you determine your own future. I decided to embrace that I had to lose some of myself in order to gain some new…

As I grew up my father was gone about six months out of the year, serving as a sailor in the United States Navy. Growing up all I wanted was to be more and more like my father. He would to tell me stories about some of the training missions that he went on, about how he and his unit would play war games with the Navy seals. He would tell me stories about some of the actual missions he was on, some of the places he had been, and some of the things that he had seen. The one thing that he never told me was how the military changed his life. Little did I know that beginning on September 16, 2002 my life would begin to change forever.…

Family may just be a small little word, but to me the word family plays a big role in my life. My family is an odd bunch, but I love them. I have two younger sisters who are completely opposite from each other and myself. Daisy the youngest, likes to pretend she is the princess in the castle. Then there is Brittiny the middle child, who also likes to pretend she is a princess, but at the same time she tries to take the role of the older sister (me). And of course what’s a castle without a king and a queen, my parents. My mom has been there for me every step of the way. We have had our ups and downs, yet we always forget and forgive. My dad is actually my step dad. The reason why I call him dad instead of calling him by his real name is simply because he has been with me for seventeen years, and acts more like my father. I respect him for being there for my mom and I.…
