Personal Experience: My Oldest Majoring In Physical Therapy
Lastly, the final chapter in my story, for now, is my oldest sister going to college. She is attending Baldwin Wallace and is majoring in physical therapy. She chose BW because they offered her a scholarship for her grades. When my sister was home, we did not really get along until the summer before she left. There were so many changes in our life because of the loss of our grandpa, her graduation, her attending college, and traveling to the Dominican Republic for a mission trip to build homes. Her experiences on the mission trip helped me realize how much we are taught by attending St Paul High School and what I have been taught by my family. This is a defining moment in my life because her going away, strengthened my relationship with her.

As a team, everyone worked their hardest to perform to the best of their abilities. Although we had our serious times, the team became the family I had desired. Unlike my birth family, this new family was considerate enough to listen to my problems and thoughts, and give me advice on what I should do with my life. After years of being shunned by my family and bullied by my classmates, I was able to be myself and embrace who I truly am.…

Many events have happened through the years which have proved to me how important my family is to me. An event which helped me realize this was the death of my grandpa who lived in Ukraine where my family is originally from. The amount of times I had seen the man I could count on my fingers. This had taught me a very valuable lesson, to be as close with my elders as I can because they aren’t getting any younger. This opened up my eyes to a vast amount of information coming from those who had seen it all. I accredit much of my success to my family members who have provided much inspiration. The event which had influenced me the most had to be almost losing my only blood brother. He is my best friend and I am thankful every day that he is alive.…

While physical therapy is an exciting and rewarding work environment, professionalism must still be maintained in the work place. In order to be the best physical therapist possible, professionalism must first be demonstrated while obtaining a degree in a doctor of physical therapy program. Three components are essential in order to demonstrate professionalism in a doctor of physical therapy program: integrity, curiosity, and taking pride in ones work. Since the inception of the first doctor of physical therapy program in 1993, the healthcare field has shifted into allowing direct access for physical therapists, along with allowing them to evaluate the patients’ condition without a diagnosis by a medical doctor.…

Last year had to by far be the toughest year for me in high school. I grew away from many people that I considered some of my closest friends. I also suffered academically because I began to spend less time doing work and being focused on less important things. I got caught up in unnecessary drama, went on my first college visits, and met new people in the matter of one year. Not only did I grow as a person, I grew as an athlete, I grew as a sibling, and I grew as a young woman. My junior year allowed me to develop my expectations for myself in life and my expectations for the people who I choose to surround myself with. This was the year that I decided who I would want to become in the future.…

I work with a personal with my friends and my trainer seems to have a lot of fun working like he does and he has great hours. Also, I was talking with him one day and he mentioned that he makes a really good salary because of the amount of people who work with him. I decided physical therapist instead because I have a friend who is in college right now who is becoming a physical therapist. I do not know too much about physical therapy but when I talked to her about it, she had a great passion for it and I want to learn about it.…

My participation in Student Government has taught me important leadership skills I will be able to carry with me throughout, not only my college career, but my nursing career. Sports has taught me that hard work, discipline, and teamwork will not only defeat any obstacle that comes my way, but with the help and encouragement of others, we can come together as one and get the job done. My extracurricular activities have taught me that with the aid of others anything is possible. Through my community service volunteering at a local housing company for the mentally disabled, I have seen first-hand what the impact one person can make on another’s life. Helping and mentoring the mentally disabled who can’t do some tasks on their own has touched my heart and changed the way I appreciate life in many different aspects. It just reminds me of how fortunate I am to be able to help other, despite the time it takes to do so. The overall time I have sacrificed to do these extracurricular activities inside and outside of school has all been well worth it. Overall, the life lessons I have learned and the change in character I have gained from these activities are gifts I will be able to carry with me in able to achieve my goal.…
