Jarp Vs Cowboys
Curly Bill Brocuis (Powers Boothe) and his band of Cowboys slaughter innocent people at a wedding. Wyatt Earp (Kurt Russell) and his brothers Virgil (Sam Elliot) and Morgan (Bill Paxton) arrive in Tombstone, Arizona. The men hope to settle down with their wives and start a new life, this time without having to keep the law. When Wyatt Earp arrives, he meets long time friend and partner Doc Holliday (Val Kilmer). The two start talking about their past travels, and it is implied that Holliday is dying of tuberculosis. Holliday tells Earp that a group of vicious outlaw Cowboys run Tombstone. Earp goes home to a wife addicted to a laudanum, a common drug of the time mixing morphine and opium. Earp begins an affair with a traveling actress named …show more content…
An angry mob wants to lynch the murderer, but Earp steps in and prevents the man from being killed. Virgil, who feels sorry for the people of the town, agrees to take the position of town marshal. Virgil instates a new law that no men are allowed to carry weapons into town, and all weapons must be checked in on the outskirts of town. This law maintains peace in Tombstone for a while, but eventually Brocius and his gang come riding into town, completely armed. Virgil, Wyatt, Morgan, and Doc Holliday decide to confront the Cowboys and try and get them to give up their weapons. They confront the Cowboys at the OK Corral, and they tell the men of their intentions to arrest them. The men resist, and a shootout breaks out. The lawmen kill many Cowboys, but one by the name of Ike Clanton escapes and tells the other Cowboys the …show more content…
Ringo challenges Earp to a duel. Wyatt accepts, but he and Doc Holliday both know that Ringo is a much faster gunfighter than Wyatt. In the next scene we see Ringo waiting for Earp to show up. Doc Holliday volunteers to take on Ringo and shows up ahead of Wyatt. Ringo isn't happy to face Doc who shoots Ringo. Wyatt arrives late to find that Doc has taken his kill. The lawmen leave Arizona and every character goes his separate way. Virgil goes to California to become sheriff of a small town. Doc goes to a hospital to spend the remainder of his days, where he is visited frequently by Wyatt Earp. Finally, Wyatt Earp is shown settling down with Josephine Marcus, and living out the remainder of his days in

He led his team to the state championship finals. He finished third for the Mr. Basketball award. During senior year he signed a national letter-of-intent to play basketball for the University of Kentucky. Shawn left the team November 1988, after being accused of pawning two gold chains that belonged to the head coach, Eddie Sutton’s son, Sean Sutton. Sean Sutton did not press charges, but Kemp decided to transfer to Trinity Valley Community College in Texas, but he did not play basketball for them. When Shawn Kemp was 19 years old he declared himself eligible for the 1989 NBA draft. The Seattle Supersonics drafted Kemp first round. Shawn was still young though and struggled to find his place in the NBA. He looked up to his former teammate Xavier McDaniel. Xavier mentored Shawn to help him find his place. Shawn Kemp, Nate McMillan, Ricky Pierce, and Gary Payton worked together and became very successful. During Shawns second season oh playing for the Sonics he picked up the name “Reignman,” meaning that he has power. In 1994 Shawn Kemp played for the US National Team in the FIBA World Championships in Toronto, and won a gold medal. (FIBA is French and stands for Federation International de Basketball Amateur, in English in means International Basketball Federation.) Shawn Kemp also appeared on a celebrity basketball game on MTV called Rock ’N’ Jock, where Shawn dunked on the young Leonardo DiCaprio. Also, during the Rock ‘N’ Jock he played one on one with Queen Latifah, she stole the ball from Shawn and made a lay-up!     The legendary story of Billy the Kid has been told for over one hundred years. Movies have been made since then, portraying a similar story of Billy the Kid. The popular movie, Young Guns, was made in 1988 and was based around the teenage life of Billy and his posse known as “The Regulators”. However, the movie had many major historical inaccuracies. One example of a historical inaccuracy was the age of Billy’s employer John Tunstall. The movie portrays him as an old fatherly figure to the regulators, however Tunstall was only a few years older than Billy and died when he was twenty-four. The movie also represents the regulators incorrectly. There were more than six regulators and they were not all young fit men, most of them were in their thirties and forties. They also did not call themselves the regulators until after Tunstall’s death. Another example of a historical inaccuracy in the movie Young Guns was the scene where Murphy’s henchmen shoot Tunstall in front of all of the regulators. Tunstall, by himself, was riding horseback and was shot while herding horses back to the ranch. An additional historical inaccuracy was the scene where the regulators are stuck in McSween’s house surrounded by soldiers. In the movie, only five regulators are stuck in the house with Mr. McSween and his wife. In reality, there were about 15 regulators and the battle lasted about five days, not two. At the battle, Billy the kid is shown as killing Murphy for the final scene. No matter how cool the ending was, it was completely inaccurate because Murphy was not shot by the Kid, but died of cancer in Santa Fe.     The movie is set in the year 1879 in the old west town of Tombstone Arizona and focuses mainly on the historical character Wyatt Earp, his family, friends, and the events leading in the town. The main character Wyatt Earp is exactly what you would expect of an old west lawman, tough but with a sense of dry humor that plays well with the rest of the characters, like his older brother Virgil and younger brother Morgan. Wyatt, Virgil and Morgan also brought their “wives” on the journey with them, Allie, Virgil’s wife, Louisa, Morgan’s wife, and Mattie, Wyatt’s wife who suffered with a significant drinking and drug problem. Along with the usual “bad guys” there are many other colorful characters that liven up the screen such as, the leader of the cowboy gang, Curly Bill Brocis and his right hand man in the gang, Johnny Ringo. The cowboy gang is made up of over 100 Texas outlaws and conartists that represent the earliest example of organized crime in North America. Although these are the villains in the movie, both Curly Bill and Johnny Ring bring a sense of drama and suspense to the screen that makes them two characters that you “love to hate”. And of course there are some of the lighter characters in the movie which include Wyatt’s best friend, Doc Holiday, the former dentist suffering from tuberculosis who now makes his living in the saloons playing poker and slinging guns, but he also brings a good dose of comic relief with his dry humor and deep southern Georgia accent while aside his traveling companion, his Hungarian mistress that goes by the name of Big Nose Kate. Finally, we get to the lovely Josephine Marcus, the exquisite actress that catches Wyatt’s eye while in Tombstone, which eventually sets a spark to ignite the romance that you wouldn’t expect from such a historical movie.
