The Parole Board are allowing criminals out on parole to get away with murder, again. Convicts on parole are committing crimes, which range from minor offences to murder, and when their case is reviewed by The Parole Board again The Board are making blatantly incompetent decisions and letting the repeating convicts to go free again to walk among the innocent people in the public. Though the example of the Jill Meagher case I will show you how it is their job to help integrate ex-criminals back into society but it also their responsibility to make sure that they are not impeding the safety of the rest of the public.
A Parole Boards job is to decide whether an offender should be released from prison on parole after serving at least a minimum portion of their sentence as prescribed by the sentencing judge. It is within their job description to let these offenders out on parole but it is also their job to make a choice. They have the power to also keep the criminal in jail up until the maximum sentence so it is their job to make sure the people they let out on parole will be properly integrated into society and to keep the people who would just go out and commit another crime in jail for their full term. On the majority they are doing their job properly, but for the percentage they get wrong The Parole Board need to take responsibility for their mistake. It is not the job of an optimist to feel safe from crime, it is a right that we deserve.
The main issue with the actions of The Parole Board is the lack of responsibility. They are ignorant when it comes to fixing their own wrongs. They allow criminals, who have recently committed major crimes, to continue to walk among us as if they have done nothing wrong and are putting nobody at risk. They must have some morality when it come to these issues because they are essentially putting not just their own lives but many thousands of people's lives in danger through simple actions which they initially thought were right, so are now too stubborn to change their opinion. The system isn't flawed it is the people within The Parole Board who are flawed. They have failed. They have become more concerned with the rehabilitation of multiple offenders than protecting the public.
In cases like Jill Meagher's there were so many things that could have stopped the tragic event of Jill's death but were crudely ignored by The Parole Board. Twice, the police asked The Parole Board to put Bailey back behind bars but twice they ignored the advice given to them. Adrian Bailey's parents were even so concerned that he would harm another young woman again they called the authorities but this just lead to Bailey arguing with his parents and then moving out of their house to a new house near the location of Jill Meagher's death. The Parole Board let him roam free even after he knocked a man unconscious while on parole in 2011. There were countless warnings that Bailey couldn't be trusted but they were ignored and so he was allowed to continue his life up until the rape and murder of Jill Meagher. Even after his new offence he was still allowed to post bail which is unacceptable seeing as this person has just gotten out of jail for sexual offence and then committed the same crime again except with the added bonus of murder. This isn't the only time The Parole Board has failed but it is one of the most publicised times.
Overall it is appalling what is going on within the parole board. The stupidity of the people responsible for the safety of the community makes me overcome by anger. Last year they made 10,000 parole decision and only 296 were knocked back. There are a possible 9,740 ex-offenders on parole which could be a potential risk. Offcourse not all of them are murderers or rapists but there is a fair chance a lot of them are. It's not every criminal who would do this but any criminal has the capability and it is The Parole Boards job to make sure the few that would do this sort of thing are kept behind bars. They are putting one of the most important things in the world in danger, people lives.

There are many goals of parole to a parolee. First, parole is earned through good behavior and self-improvement. The only difference in parole and probation is that if you are on parole, you have been to prison. The main concept of parole is to return the offender gradually to productive lives.
