Is Money Measure of Success?
Is Money a Measure of Success?

For most people in our modern-capitalism world, money is the first thing, and sometimes the only thing that measures success in their life. Money can buy power, fame and time. Sometimes money can even buy a life. So money has become the first common goal for everybody. However, there is something else that can be the measurement of success in life.
One important thing that defines success in our lives is our careers. With different careers, we will have different goals and measurements of our success. Success in human life is often measured by numbers and awards. If you are an athlete maybe it is the number of tournaments or the number of matches you have won. In almost every career there is money involved, and maybe that is the reason why people always look at money as primary measurement of their success, they can easily compare it with the others.
Besides those measurements we can compare them with other people or let other people measure our success, sometimes just accomplishing our wishes or dreams can be measures of success in our lives. The common goal in people’s life is to be peaceful and happy. Being the richest man in the world does not mean you are the happiest man in the world. So another measurement of success is how happy your life is.
In addition, as times change, the measurement of success in life also changes. For examples, wealth, the thing that many people use to judge success in one’s life, is changing when time has passed. Thousands of years ago when humans were still a cavemen, it might have been how big you cave was. Hundreds of years ago it might have been how big your land was. Today it is how much money is in your bank account, so maybe in the future it might be something else. In conclusion, the measurement of success in your live can be many things. It just depends on time, what goals

Merriam-Webster defines the word success as “the fact of getting or achieving wealth, respect or fame.” The definition of success differs from one person to another. Most people work hard throughout their life to achieve goals and be successful in their careers. That might mean acquiring a secondary education, being able to provide for one’s family, achieving a life’s ambition, or acquiring wealth. However, to a homeless man living in a busy city of New York, success might simply mean attaining enough cash to purchase a small meal. Success through the eyes of a United States Marine may be avoiding death in order to see one’s family. Perceptions of success can be faulty. In most cases, one can be successful in one part of life and be a total…

Many people say wealth is the key to measuring success; they are wrong. Success should be measured upon ones happiness, the friends one has and if their goals in life have been attained. It is like saying you can never buy happiness. The American dream is often considered being affluent, but once one becomes rich- if ever- that's all he ever gains and won't be truly happy or successful. This is confirmed time after time again in F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby and in other readings and movies; it has in all probability been proven in your own experiences also. Success is like a rubber-band ball where you keep building and building upon it in hopes to make it a truly grand item to boast.…

The saying “money equals success” is tossed around in society enormously. Essentially stating the only way to mean anything is to have wealth and possessions. He is always disappointed with Biff because he is not up to his…

While some people equate having wealth and power as being successful, that is often not the case. Although earning and having money is an important aspect of our economy and existence, earning large sums of money is not an accurate way of measuring nor determining if a person is successful or not. Those who find true satisfaction in life, regardless of their wealth or social status, are the ones who have reached true success. As put into words by award-winning author Maya Angelou, "success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it." True success is achieved when an individual has reached a point in their life where their goals and achievements are meaningful and…

The main point of this essay is to show the variety of aspects in success in the American culture. This essay was meant to emphasize that although success does have a definition; it is based on how people view success, and on how they determine a person successful. In this paper, I explored educational, political, and financial success, and incorporated which one was determined as the most important by many of my peers, as well as adults, both male and female. Happiness results after you have spent countless hours working on something or toward a goal. Heaps of joy can result when you attain your goal. Success can also be considered triumph or even a “Hollywood ending”. Success is not considered a defeat, loss, failure, or money. Yes, some have acquired money due to their success, but success cannot be compared to money. Someone once said, “No one is going to hand me success. I must go out and get it myself. That’s why I’m here. To dominate. To conquer. Both the world and myself” (Famous). Success will never just be handed to you; you must be dedicated to work toward it…

There are many ways that people define success and many people define it differently. There are three aspects of my life in which I would personally define my life as a success. The first aspect is education. If I can get through college and with great grades and the education I need for the job I want, then I will have defined my education as a success. The reason I will define this as a success is because of the fact that not everybody gets a chance at a college education and if I can still get that chance then I can define my life as successful. The second reason I will define this as a success is if the college education I want gets me a job I want then I can live a happy life. The second aspect in which I would define…

A measure of success is how happy a person is. For some, they’d feel their happiest when they have luxurious items. However, this isn’t true and is not a real measure of success. Happiness for most people is a loving family. If it’s someone’s definition of success, then family is what defines their success. For others, this might mean trying new things and a lifestyle that supports it. Success is tied in with happiness because they are both highly subjective.…
