It is hard to determine if an adolescent is need of assistance from a human service provider or just going through the “changes.” The amount of peer pressure that is around them, the music, television, internet access and video games has embedded some much negativity in their mind that it is difficult for them to function without any intervention.
My 19 year old daughter called me yesterday crying, saying it’s too hard. I have too much to do. So I immediately gave the spill of making sure you get organized and prioritize your workload. I told her she needed to cut out some of her school activities and clubs organizations. She stops me and said, mom that’s not what I needed from you. So, now I’m confused. So of course since reading this chapter, I started praying that she doesn’t have a breakdown from all the pressure and need assistance from a human services provider. However, they do have counselors on campus that can assist her if she feels too overwhelmed which can easily lead to depression. …show more content…
Therefore, it is important for human service specialist to determine what is “normal” or “abnormal” behavioral to determine what treatment is needed. If adolescent consistently and repeatedly act out severe aggression, defiance, conduct disorders which indicates a problem would require in home, school or counseling from a private
