Interpersonal Paper

Communication is a transactional process where information is shared through a channel from a sender to a receiver. The receiver then decodes the message and gives the sender feedback. Communication is an essential part to life, it builds relationships, allows people to share their beliefs and culture, informs, persuades and entertains people, although, communication cannot always be easy. Factors that can hurt communication or make it ineffective are the channel through which the message is portrayed or whether the receiver is listening to the message. Also, the message can be interpreted wrong based on how that person is feeling. For example, if someone is in a bad mood, that event or conversation could go the wrong way because of his or her frame. This paper examines the role of communication in the development of my life. I believe that communication is something that shapes a person’s identity. Identity is who a person is, composed of the individual and social categories a person identifies with as well as what category other people identify that person in. My identity is who I am and I believe that it was something I developed, not that I was born to be this person. It does begin at birth though; from the second you are born your parents begin to shape the person you become. Based on how they nurture you makes the first influence on your life when you become your self. An individuals self is influenced by For example, my father has always worked a job where he only came home once a week. This caused me to see my mom as my main caretaker and feel more comfortable around her. Because my dad was always away, my mom would get very upset and it would make me upset. I would always try to do everything I could to make her happy and I still do that to this day. Because of this I unintentionally got the direct definition of being caring and it is something that has made me who I am. Growing up in middle school I

    Communication necessitates the use of messaging to generate meanings within and across various contexts, cultures and channels. Communication is a two way process involving the exchange of information. A communicator encodes by putting thoughts into words and gestures, and transmits messages to a receiver who decodes the messages by applying meaning to them.
