Interpersonal Communication Research Paper

Interpersonal communication plays an important role in advancing the career of a human service professional. Having excellent interpersonal communication affects not only the client, but also those who work with the human service professional. I interviewed a social worker to recognize what skills are needed in the human service field. The five skills that are explored in this paper are clear and thoughtful communication, good listening, social awareness, negotiating, and emotional intelligence. There are skills in this list that I already possess, and hope to enhance for my future career in recreational therapy. I still have work I need to do to develop the two that are not present in me.
