Interpersonal Communication Interview Paper
This week went very smoothly with my interviewee, my grandma, because she was finally able to recall small bits of her middle childhood. It still involved a little bit of time to think of things but she was relieved that she could remember things. While on the phone we first went over the industry-versus-inferiority stage in detail that way she could recall how she felt during the middle age. With the industry-versus-inferiority children will face challenges with how they present themselves in front of peers, parents, school, etc. With my grandma, she laughed it off, she was telling me growing up between the ages of six and twelve she really didn’t care much of what others thought. Even at a young age she was more focused on herself and going out to play to care what people had to say about her. Besides she would tell me she was a very outgoing child, she loved to make new friends and that’s possibly why she said she couldn’t recall any type of bullying besides the typical boy teasing her because they had a crush on her. With industry-versus-inferiority it talks about …show more content…
Self-esteem being about how one emotionally sees themselves whether it be positive or negative. I will admit I can’t always tell if my grandma can’t fully remember how she felt around those years but she told me she thought high of herself. She always wanted to be happy and feel happy and she said it started with how she felt. Being confident in herself probably even helped her with being outgoing and getting along with everyone. I can recall a resent family gathering where my aunt told my grandma how she looked tired and exhausted. For some this could bring someone’s self-esteem down but with my grandma it never fazed her she replied, “why do I care, I’m old, looks aren’t everything anymore.” My grandma always believed that it only matters what you feel about yourself and not what others

Self esteem can be defined in many different ways. I happen to look at it very simple, I think that self-esteem means the way a person feels about their self, and individual standards. I also believe it is the way we as people appraise our emotional being in the world compared to others, and the way we function in relationships (meaning the we act and treat others), and what is considered acceptable or what is not. The thing I learned about self-esteem, is that it is influenced by various factors, including culture, personal observations, atmosphere and perceptions.…

One change I would make with my self-perception would be the way I see same-sex attraction because it has little to do with my sexuality, but a lot to do with my self-image and self-worth since I am gay. I have always noticed most of us guys who are gay and or experience same-sex attraction have good self-images; and we get along well in life. But I have to say that I have low feelings of self-worth; because my gut-level feelings tell me they are not worth much. So I do believe that can change my self-image or not, I see so many people who feels it is not right when they find out that I am gay. This is my self-image that establishes…

For my Interpersonal Communication project, I was instructed to engage in two separate conversations; one being with an individual I knew but did not feel entirely comfortable with, and the other being with an individual I knew and felt very comfortable with. The first conversation I had took place in my driveway, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m., on Friday, and it was with my cousin, Shaunda, who I feel very comfortable with, as we have been close for over thirty years. The main topic we discussed was her recent decision to file for a divorce. The second conversation took place on Friday evening, in my garage, with my ex-husband who, even though I have known him for twelve years, I am not comfortable…
