My internship was completed with Days Inn Bradenton located at 3506 First St. West, Bradenton, Fl. My supervisor is the general manager Rahul Patel, who can be reached at 941-746-1141or email@example.com. I currently work thirty five to forty hours per week as a Front Desk Agent and can be reached at 941-746-1141. SECOND SECTION:
Days Inn Bradenton is a hotel located across from the Desoto Square Mall. They provide lodging and meeting room space for guests. The Days Inn is designed for the leisure travelers and families that enjoy economy rates, many business travelers also utilize the facility as well. My expectations for gaining new hospitality business experience this semester is to gain experience in a hotel setting and to learn as much as I can about the hotel industry. With this experience I’m preparing myself to obtain my goal of being a general manager of a hotel.
My responsibilities as a Front Desk Agent are answering the telephones, welcoming guests as they walk by, and checking guests in and out. While checking a guest in we are required to include important details. These include seeing a picture id as well as a valid credit card, confirming with the guest their type of room and length of stay, obtaining a telephone number and email address, using their name a minimum of once, telling them my name. Checking out a guest also requires important details. We have to use the guests name a minimum of once, tell them our name, ask how their stay was, as if we should use the credit card on file to pay the bill, ask if they would like another copy of the receipt, thank them for staying with us, and ask if we can make them a reservation for the future. At this point I also ask if they are a part of the Wyndham Rewards Club and explain that by joining the club they will be able to earn points towards a free nights stay or for gift cards to purchase other items of their choice. Once a guest has checked out we inform housekeeping so their room can be cleaned. The special project that I learned was payroll and night auditing. With payroll, it wasn’t really hard to learn because it’s actually done through a payroll company called First Financial Employee Leasing, Inc. which is located in Port Charlotte, Fl. Employees are required to clock in and out using the computer because we have an online time clock system. I am also learning the night audit responsibilities including generating the financial reports. With working with the financial reports, I have been able help forecast room rates and occupancy. The Front Desk Agent is responsible for setting up the meeting room per the guests requirements, and cleaning it up once the guests have departed. Another daily responsibility of the front desk agent is setting up the complimentary coffee, and taking it down each morning. After coffee the Front Desk Agent is responsible for wiping down the countertops, sweeping the floor, mopping the floor, and vacuuming the rugs. The Front Desk Agent also acts as concierge. Most of the guests are from out of town, and inquire about local attractions, shops, beaches, and dining. I often print out maps and directions for the guest, and try to direct them to an area of interest. We also make sure we follow the Days Inn Service commitment: When Cecil B. Day founded Days Inn in 1970; his commitment to the traveling public was to satisfy two critical, yet simple, expectations: friendly, courteous service and clean, comfortable room where everything is in working order. Today, with the numerous lodging choices available to guests, Days Inn, is affirming Mr. Day’s commitment to ensure you receive the service and accommodations you expect. If guests have any problems while staying with us, please contact the Front Desk immediately so that we may have the opportunity to correct the situation and to ensure your stay is a pleasant one.
