General Purpose: To inform
Specific Purpose: To inform the audience how to obtain a higher education
Central Idea: With motivation and curtain skills achieving a college education are possible with these elements.

Introduction:

I. How does having extra money sound? Or having a vacation home? Taking a trip you have always dreamed of? Giving your family a security of a great life?
II. A college degree can provide your life with these things and so much more.
III. Motivation is the main underlying factor in your educational goal of a college degree.
IV. Unfortunately motivation can only get you to the door, you will need certain skill sets to help you along the way.

Transition: Taking everything into account, lets discuss the values of a degree.

I. For most people time management skills’ are a learned skill that is obtained through guidance from parents and through trial and error.
II. Think about what you could do in 168 hours? That is how many hours that are in a week.
III. It is important to properly manage your time according to classes, assignment due days and to manage when something unexpected happens.
Transition: Like time management, money management will be important in accomplishing a college degree.

I. Although money management will not be a grave issue after completing your college degree, it will be a huge area to watch while you are still in school.
II. College is very expensive and student loans will be inevitable. It will be imperative to create a daily, weekly and monthly budget if you want to have financial success.
III. The National Center for Education has stated that the cost of one year of college tuition, room and board was over $3,800, and 20 years later it has gone up by over 300% to over $12,000. And The Economist says loans have skyrocket of $41 billion in 2007 to $87 billion this

    Thinking about the cost of colleges in The United States stresses out many of students every single day. A college cost continues to rise every single year and with that comes great struggles and stress. The average cost of college tuition has raised a whole eighty-two percent since the year 1980 (Shabazz 36). College prices are rising eight percent each year (Tuition Inflation).With college prices constantly raising more students will have to find ways to pay for their higher education. The cost of resident college tuition for a thirty hour college semester at Oklahoma University is approximately $9,000.00 (Oklahoma Estimated Cost for Resident Thirty Hours). This price, although very high, still does not include room and board or books. The estimated cost for tuition, room and board and books is approximately $18,500.00 (Oklahoma Estimated Cost for Resident Thirty Hours).
