There is no responsibility greater than that of being a parent. Successful parenting requires more than providing for the physical needs of one’s children- it means being committed to their developmental well-being and overall success. A goal of this magnitude requires parents to give of themselves every day. Successful parents are those who What qualities lift their children to heights they may never attain themselves? Should a good parent possess? What the parent says should be a law. No compromise… who knows what it really takes to be a good parent? There are several qualities that a make a good parent, and the reasoning’s to back up why I believe these qualities make a good parent. First, parents should identify good qualities in your children. A parent who knows that it is necessary, to take a pause from the rush of life, and enjoys the wonderful qualities that their children possess. One who doesn’t think for a moment that a mental note is enough? A good parent takes the time to point out their children’s good qualities and let’s them build upon them. Another quality of a successful parent is one who makes time daily to spend with their kids. As we all know life has a way of consuming all of our time, it is easy to become “too busy” to do anything with your kids. Parents, who feel as though they can’t find the time, make the time. No matter how busy they are, or how tired they may be, they know that there is no reason to deny their children thirty minutes of their daily time. A parent always gives their kids thirty minutes every day for whatever they wish to do. Secondly, parents who communicate with their children. A Mother and Father who talks to them in a friendly manner about whatever subject they wish to discuss. Parent’s that avoid falling into the trap of speaking to their kids; only when they need to discipline them. I’ve come to notice that kids get their parents attention most easily when they are getting into trouble, parents that only make this the time when they are talk to their children; their speech is less likely to seem pleasant. Giving your children the benefit of positive communication, they will be more likely to talk to you in good times and bad.

Parenting is a big part of every ones lives; it makes up who you are as a person and in many cases projects who you will be in the future. Some adults have trouble manipulating their children and teaching them what is right from wrong, while others have a much easier time doing so. In my opinion there is no such thing as “the perfect parent”, both the mother and the father have their flaws, but what matters is that the parent is always there for personal support. To me a good parent is someone who is always there to support there children in both good and bad terms, and a responsible adult that can supply for their kids necessities, not necessarily all the luxuries that they want. Another key point to being a good parent is to be a good leader, all kids look up to their parents and most of the time follow their parents footsteps and part of being a good leader is being a hard worker. A parent that is supportive, responsible, and a leader and hard worker all make up to be a great parent in my opinion. In the stories Scar by Amy Tan, My Fathers Hands by Daisy Hernandez, and the poems Those Winter Sundays by Robert Hayden, No Longer a Teenager by Gerald Locklin all tie up to the universal theme of good parenting. Even though some characters in the story struggle to be the perfect parent they desire to be, some are successful in doing so while others just cannot do their duty.…

Parenting styles are choices and there is no right or wrong way to raise a child. In society there may be, but it only matters how to the person raising their child. There are endless ways people raise their children and even though we have four main parenting styles, sometimes many parents don’t even fit into one. Parents should just strive to raise their children as well as they can. The biggest thing a parent can do for their child is to teach them, support them, and be there for them. “At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key to a child's success is the positive involvement of parents.” - Jane D.…

It is known and well researched that parents are pivotal in the role that they play in their children’s lives where their success is concerned. Books and research on parenting has shown that the love and nurturing that parents provide their children from birth, helps them to grow up confident and as a result they become achievers and are successful in their careers. Dobson (2001) states that the greatest challenge especially for nurturing boys is just keeping them alive through childhood and adolescence. That is the true goal of good parenting; to nurture children who are able to live on their own and become successful in their chosen careers and in their lives.…

Every mother has a moment in her life where she remembers every detail. She will forever remember the date time and place, and the newfound sense of love. It is the moment she gave birth to her child. At that very moment, she makes a vow to herself and her child that she will be a good mother. There are so many traits that make a good mother, I will define the traits important to me. These are the traits I feel help define a good mother; unconditional love, trust, support, and patience. A good mother has an endless supply of unconditional love. “A child could destroy a mother’s most prized possession, but she will still have a smile on her face because her child is safe.” Unconditional love is known as affection without any limits. There is nothing a child could do to lose a good mothers love. As the child grows so does the mothers amount of unconditional love. A good mother shows the child that they can trust her with anything. During the first years of the child’s life the child depends and trusts that their mother will take of care of them and their basic needs to sustain life. When a child is scared, sad, seeking advice or help a good mother is who a child turns to. Being trustworthy is also a good a good trait to instill in your child by example. Every child needs support, and a good mother is their child’s main support system and backbone. There are many ways a good mother supports her child. Financial support is a big one, you don’t have to be rich to be a good mother. A good mother will be able to provide the child’s basic necessities and usually a little more. Children also need emotional support. Sometimes it’s something as simple as a kiss on a skinned knee, a compliment, or being a listening ear, and a shoulder to cry on. Most children look to a good mother for emotional support even into their adulthood. The mother may not always agree with the decisions her child makes. However, a good mother…
