Anarchy Anarchy is to government what atheism is to religion; in anarchy there is no government and each individual has absolute liberty. It is important to note, however, that the lack of a government toenforce laws does not automatically imply that there are no laws; anarcho-capitalism in particular posits a form of anarchy with a body of explicit laws.…

These themes have been represented in the following texts, William Shakespeare Macbeth (play on stage) and William Golding’s lord of the flies (novel). The techniques employed are, symbolism, characterisation, language features, and violence/drama. “We cannot empower another, because to presume to do so removes the element of choice” (Burkhardt & Nathaniel, 2008, p. 471). Although nurses may not be able to empower patients, they can, through the process of empowerment, enable patients to speak up. Nurses can help patients develop an awareness of areas that need change and support the desire to take action. Approaching a patient as an equal partner allows for collaboration and aids in communication which is necessary to facilitate the empowerment process. Nurses should remember to avoid imposing personal values on their patients. Sometimes it is difficult for nurses to relinquish control and accept decisions patients make for themselves. Nurses can shift the power to the patient by focusing on the patient’s self-determined needs. “Improving a person’s ability to understand and manage his or her own health and disease, negotiate with different cadres of health professionals, and navigate the complexities of health is crucial to achieving better health outcomes” ("Patient empowerment," 2012, p. 650).…

Considering all that I have read regarding this Star Trek Episode, The Measure of a Man, I can truly say that Piccard had a Dualism view when it came to the situation at hand with Data. He believed that data was a close to being a human as possible. When a robot is given the rank of a Lt Commander, I would have to question this fact. It seems a little strange to give a typical robot that kind of rank. Hasker told us that “Dualism begins by taking quite seriously the fact that human beings have both physical and mental properties.” Piccard I must say took Data very seriously. Data after finding out that he was going to be disassembled by Maddox and he may not be able to put him back together, refuses to have this done. This shows that Data to me must have some human attributes, because no one would volunteer to have that down that was human. Maddox on the other hand had a more idealism view on the subject. He made several reference to Data as “it.”This is something that humans do not refer to one another as. Data was nothing more than an idea to Maddox a computer as some might say. He felt he had no rights as a robot and should not be allowed to refuse to participate in the project. Maddox stats that Data has no soul. To those that worked with Data he was considered one of the family and to those that, like Maddox he was just a robot with a computer processor for a brain. When humans are around many objects we begin having a bond with that object. It’s almost like an alcoholic, they form a bound with their alcohol it is their life.…
