gets personal pleasure from completing shapes with the squishing and pulling the play dough. (Freud) In addition, Mrs. H. continues to check on and help A. even though she is watching and helping other students. Maybe A. has become too dependent on Mrs. H. for the help for her to complete tasks.

2:45 Mrs. H. announces that it is clean-up time. A. looks around and notices that other students are cleaning up, so she starts putting away her play dough and cleans up the mess around her. A. looks down at her hands and notices there is play dough sticking to her hands, she picks up the face cloth and wipes her hands off. Once she is done cleaning, she goes and sits in the chairs by the bulletin board.

When A. notices the other students, cleaning up she immediately puts her stuff down and starts cleaning up as well. This shows that she has awareness for other students in the classroom. It also shows that she has developed as habit, as well as the other students have (cleaning up). A. has also developed a sense of cleanliness, as she cleaned her hands after she was done playing with the play dough.

2:50 All the children are sitting on chairs in front of the bulletin board. Mrs. H. starts to read another story and all students start listening to her

Once again, I was placed in Mrs.Metcalfe who teaches second grade at Bens Branch Elementary. Mrs.Metcalfe took attendance while the students waited patiently on the carpet. After she took attendance, she addressed that she had taken some privileges away from the students because the students did not picked up their mess after having centers and would not follow instructions that the teacher gave. She explained that centers might return for the upcoming school year if they behaved properly. After she addressed the issues of the students, she instructed everyone to go back to their desks and waited till they put their thumbs which meant that they were ready for the lesson of the day. Mrs.Metcalfe went up to the front of the class to use the projector and expected her students to follow what she was doing on their worksheets.…

At 1:00 p.m. I entered into Evoline C. West Elementary school on Thursday, July 12 2012 for an interview with Mrs. Yolanda Lawrence. As I entered the classroom, I was greeted by Mrs. Lawrence, the head teacher in this classroom. Mrs. Lawrence has no assistant at this present because of it being in the summer. After I entered into the classroom, the entire class welcomed me with “hello Ms. Flournoy”. It made my day to see all of those smiley faces greeting me. This was a 2nd grade classroom which consisted of 17 students of which 8 were girls and 9 were boys. This interview and observation was a total of 2 hours long. During the observation of Mrs. Lawrence classroom, I noticed how the students flocked under Mrs. Lawrence as she started reading one their favorite books before they did their afternoon lesson. On November 6th, I observed a four year-old boy at the UCI Early Childhood Education Center. My observation starts at 4:10pm, and it lasts for thirty minutes. At the time I did the observation, all of the children woke up from the nap time and started to play outside of the classroom. The playground is at least seventy-five square feet, and it has many play stations for children. Three classrooms share the same outside playground, and the age groups of those children are from three years old to five years old. All of the children could access to the outside playground through the back door in their classrooms. From the left side of the playground, there is a basketball stand next to the tree, then moving toward to the right, there is a lawn in the central of the playground. On the grass, there is a big…

I observed Mr. Dave’s pre-k class at Montclair pre-school. I arrived at the classroom at 8:00 am to accessed the classroom as well to speak to Mr. Dave. We reviewed the day’s plan as I helped him clean up. While cleaning around the room I noticed how colorful the room was. There were: banners of letters and numbers hanging on the wall, as well as a large alphabet carpet on the floor for the kids to sit on, toys to play with and books to read. As the children arrived, they removed their belongings and placed them in the cubbies. Afterwards, they grabbed their name tags and set their lunchboxes on the lunchbox table. I played with the kids until class started at 9:00…
