How to think like a teacher
Competency Goal 3:
To support social and emotional development and to provide positive guidance.

Candidate provides physical and emotional security for each child to know, accept and take pride in himself or herself and to develop a sense of independence. I will provide all children with an emotionally and physically safe and secure environment in which they will thrive, being able to develop their own sense of self. I will do this by smiling and greeting all children by name in the morning. Make sure that every child gets some one on one attention when I can express appropriate physical touch and enjoyment in them being in my classroom. Express my own emotions and respond to the children emotions, valuing their feelings and helping them express what they are feeling. But above all make sure that every child feels secure in my room by keeping routines and discussing any unusual events in advance. Make sure to get to know every child and the routines and positions the child likes, creating at rusting and blossoming emotionally and physically secure. Provide toddlers with self exploring opportunities in which they can succeed, recognize there pleasure in new skills and support them to express their feeling in an appropriate way.

Social Candidate helps each child feel accepted in the group, helps children learn to communicate and get along with others, and encourages feelings of empathy and mutual respect among children and adults. I will provide an environment in which children can enjoy positive social interactions through modeling, have positive interactions with my co-workers the parents of the children , other supportive staff and most important of all with all the children. Encourage children to share and ask what they want from their friends. If need be help them solve situations by encouraging them to express their feelings to others. Encourage all children to play with each other while respecting each other rights. Show respect for young

    I provide a positive relationship with the child through daily routines and interactions allowing growth in in their development of self and others. Each morning I ensure that I greet each child and parent when they arrive. In greeting the child I will always address the child by his/her name and encourage the other children to say good morning.     I will be producing a welcome to my setting booklet. Within this I will outline some relevant legislation, if there are any language barriers this will be helpful to take home and use google translate or Babel fish for on line translation. During our first meeting I would talk about the children act 2004 and that I adhere to this by treating all children as individuals and with equal concern .I will treat all children and their families with respect and in a fair way, I will not discriminate and will have inclusive practices, I believe every child is different and special in their on right and would hope to help build their own sense of identity and self worth and in doing this encourage their own ideas, opinions and independence .The children will be kept safe by using health and safety guidelines, food hygiene, child protection and safeguarding.
