GCSE History – Schools History Project - A guide to what to expect in June 2009.

The idea of this booklet is to help you prepare for your exams in June, by explaining what topics you need to look at, which need most preparation and what type of questions you can expect to answer.

Firstly you need to know that the exam papers are now marked online and so you need to ensure your work is neat and easy to read.

There are two exams.
Exam 1 is now divided into two papers. Confusingly they’re both called paper 1!!
One paper assesses what we’ve studied on Germany
One paper assesses what we’ve looked at in our study of crime and punishment.

How far were the problems faced by the Weimar Republic in the years 1919-23 caused by the Treaty of Versailles? Explain your answer. You could include the following in your answer, and any other information of your own. • The Weimar Government was set up by a new constitution in July 1919 • The Treaty of Versailles imposed reparations of £6,600 million on Germany • The Munich Putsch took place in 1923
3. Why did the support for the Nazi Party increase so much in the years 1929-32? Explain your answer. You could include the following in your answer, and any other information of your own. • In the 1928 election the Nazi party gained 12 seats in the Reichstag with 2.6% of the vote • The Wall Street Crash occurred in October 1929 • There were seven political parties represented in the Reichstag
