How Does The Great Gatsby Reflective Essay

We'd just finished reading the Great Gatsby and it was time to receive our essays prompts. I was nervous because many concepts I simply could not grasp within the book. Everyone had the same feedback; I was either missing the bigger picture or not going into depth sufficiently. I soon went from deleting sentences to getting rid of whole paragraphs. My inability to make progress on this assignment discouraged me to the point where I stopped asking for assistance. I got online and searched general ideas and compared my writing to ensure what I had in my essay was correct. I saw similar things through various essays that complimented mine, which encouraged me to continue writing. I was very confident in turning in my essay. My teacher graded them quickly and I knew I would do well on it. She looked at me and handed me the packet of six pages with an oversized "0"
I couldn't win. I struggled so much with this essay to earn no credit. I was very bitter about the situation and I wondered if they questioned if I could write something so well. I also knew of other students who used other things within their essays. However, none of that mattered. I know I used parts of other work in my essay without giving them credit, and I was caught. Other people were insignificant. Although I had no intent to discredit someone for his or her work, it was my responsibility. Now, I handle the repetitious acts of teacher double-checking my work to ensure nothing is sketchy. The one mistake I made has become the direct characterization of me and that's not who I am.
