How Did Artemis Go
Artemis & How the Myths Go

Long gone before Katniss Everdeen was shooting arrows and sprinting across the forests of district 12, existed Artemis. You’ve heard of Artemis right? In Greek mythology, Artemis was one of the fiercest goddesses there was. She was the goddess of hunt and the goddess of the Moon. Artemis was independent and kept her promise that she would never marry, and she never did. Artemis was awesome, and had impressive bowing skills, I can even bet you she was born with a bow n arrow. She was also known as Apollo’s twin sister, but surprisingly she was exactly antithetical. Unfortunately, her personality wasn't too forgiving.
Knowing she was very independent and fierce everyone back in the ancient Greek world was very apprehensive to the fact that she did not liked being bothered at all, especially when she is focused on her hunting. But there was always that one person who wouldn’t follow the crowd. People say it can be a good thing but thatś not always true because they also say, curiosity kills the cat!

I brought my dogs along with me to help me out. We were walking through the forest, it was pretty warm and humid in the area, the day was going pretty well. I shot down 2 deer, and a squirrel. My dogs mostly took care of the squirrel. As I waited on them I heard this sound coming from the other side of the forest. I wasn't sure what it was but then I realized it sounded like... people! I looked at my dogs and it seemed like they heard it too, as they perked up their ears I realized it sounded like laughter. It was always very rare for people to be hunting early in the morning, especially on a Tuesday. I decided just to ignore it but as we kept walking through the forest it got even

    Athena Role Model

Athena is one of the most well known goddesses from ancient Greece. She is Goddess of Wisdom and of War and is a good example of the template used for our modern day female superhero. Often called a feminist goddess, she is described as strong in both her character and body, independent and fierce, wise and rational. The story of Athena’s birth is well known. Zeus consumed the Titan goddess Metis and began to suffer a headache, Hephaestus then splits Zeus’ head open to relieve the ache and out of the wound sprung Athena. If you look close enough, Athena was born of man and woman asexually, but it was often said, even by Athena herself that she was born only of man. This course of action is a denial of the maternal origin and her mother is never seen in ancient myth as a disrespect. The denial of birth and female power to give birth commandeers this power and creates another layer of patriarchal views on the creation of life in the world. She belongs to only her father and sees herself as his greatest and most trusted heir. She was a part of the world in a way the women of her time were not allowed to be, a goddess of both war and wisdom, when the women in society were seen as irrational and unpredictable by the men around them. But she still remains a beacon of what a perfect women should be in their society, virginal, beautiful and loyally pledged to…

Her father, Thaumas "the wondrous", was a marine god, and her mother, Elektra "the amber", was a cloud goddess. Therefore, Iris was also the granddaughter of Gaea, the goddess of the Earth and the sea god, Pontus. The cruel Harpies were her sisters. They were winged female creatures who would swoop down and eat the food of the blind seer Phineas every day. Beyond having a renowned family, Iris was a Greek goddess with many strengths. For example, she was faithful and loyal and had the power of shape-shifting along with many other powers. In contrast, her weakness was that she was defined by her role in life and didn’t have a distinguishing personality. Hmmm…. I wonder who that reminds me…

Helen of Troy was one of these women. Like so many women Homer speaks of, her beauty alone could be the cause of a catastrophic outcome. It is argued she began the Trojan War when she was given to Paris, the prince of Troy, who chose Aphrodite over Athena and Hera, who, furious at being seen with any less beauty, urged the Greeks to march towards Troy. Born to Zeus and Leda, Helen is a central female figure in both of Homer 's poems. From what we can tell, she was always treated well by the Trojans, and generally badmouthed by the Greeks.…
