How Could A Hoodlum Die A Hero?
How could a hoodlum die a hero? Most people would say it is not possible for a hoodlum to be a hero but I disagree. I think that anyone can be a hero if they care about helping others and are willing to risk their lives for someone else. Dally was a hoodlum but he cared about his friends like they were family and he did everything he could to protect them. According to the dictionary, a hero is someone who is admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements or noble qualities. Dally was a hero because he helped Johnny and Ponyboy when they were in trouble, saved their lives, and died to help them. Dally was a hero to his friends, therefore, he died a hero.

The church they were hiding out in caught on fire and some kids got trapped inside. Johnny and Ponyboy went into the church to try to save them but they got trapped inside too. Dally’s jacket saved Ponyboy from burning up in the fire. Dally also saved Johnny by carrying him out of the window. Dally showed a lot of courage and bravery by saving them that day.
Lastly, Dally died. I think he died so his friends could see what could happen to them if they didn’t change their lives. Johnny died while he was in the hospital and Dally couldn’t handle his death so he robbed a grocery store. He called the gang and told them to meet him at the lot but when they got there the police were already there. Dally pulled out an unloaded gun and pointed it at the police. Ponyboy said when the police fired at Dally he knew that Dally would be dead, because Dally Winston wanted to be dead and he always got what he wanted.
To sum it all up, Dally died a hero because he was a hero. He was courageous, helpful, caring, and noble. He did everything he could to help his friends when they were in trouble. He protected them, saved their lives, and even died so they could see what could happen to them if they kept living the life they were

In the beginning of the story Dally and Ponyboy didn't get along the best. But throughout the story they became closer. Dally’s death happened right after he stole from the store. The cops showed up and circled around Dally under a street light. Dally soon pulled out a gun and acted like it was loaded but it really wasn't. How would the cops know that? They did not know that. After the cops told Dally to put the gun down multiple times and Dally still wouldn't do it so they shot him. Ponyboy took this really hard because him and Dally had gotten very close. Also dally had helped Ponyboy and Johnny out whenever they needed something. So I think that Ponyboy was really mad because he didn't stop it from happening. Also now Ponyboy is dealing with two deaths of his very good friends. “I knew he would be dead, because Dally Winston wanted to be dead and he always got what he wanted” said Ponyboy (Hinton…

In my opinion, he is not a hero, but an anti-hero. Dally was a criminal, and he took pleasure in that; he didn’t like doing things the legal way. He was a product of bad circumstances. The reason why he is a hero, is that he saved Johnny and Pony many times. Dally helped them find a place to stay when they were fugitives; gave them money and a gun; and when he risked his life to save the kids from the burning barn.…
