Hildegard Peplau Theory Paper
I have a passion for psychiatric nursing and my favorite nursing theorist that I would chose to guide my nursing practice would be Hildegard Peplau. She has worked for the World Health Organization, United States air force, and for the National Institutes of Mental Health. These are only a few of the places that she gained experience and knowledge from throughout her nursing career. Hildegard Peplau contributed the interpersonal theory which focuses on the nurse-patient relationship. The theory has four phases that we have all learned about in nursing school. If I could meet Hildegard Peplau, I would ask her a variety of questions. I would be interested in her previous experiences in mental health. I would ask her what influenced her to contribute the interpersonal theory. I would also find interest in her personal feelings regarding nursing and how she believes nursing has evolved since she practiced, until today. Overall, I feel that it would be a pleasure to gain knowledge and wisdom from a famous nurse theorist.
This video was a real eye opener. The experiments performed were very unethical and inhumane. Its hard to hear about all of the horrible acts that were carried out by doctors and other medical personnel. They tortured people and tried to find medical justification in order to avoid penalties. They killed anyone that had a mental disorder or individuals that they found to be useless to them. I feel that anyone involved in research will be affected emotionally based on the specific research or topics they are looking into. This was a very sad story that also made me upset that it ever happened. I feel that research helps us become more knowledgeable and have a better understanding. When I am involved in research, I will ensure that the research is being conducted for the better of human beings and that no harm is caused throughout the process. The goal is to
