Jacey Choy, author of “Red Cranes” and Jun’Chiniro, author of “The Firefly Hunt” use various components to unfold each main character's personality. Elements such as the characters’ interaction with others like their parents and friends, the presentation of main character's thoughts such as their dreams and aspirations, and the strong feelings that a character exhibits at the end of a story like serenity or relaxedness ends up are all used by both authors to develop each main character. Though the characters in the passages have some similarities, the authors develop their characters in very different ways.…

After studying the short stories of Nathaniel Hawthorne 's "Young Goodman Brown" and Willa Cather 's "Paul 's Case", I began to see many similarities within the two stories. Both of the main characters in each story have characteristics that could be looked at as being alike, but after analyzing each character I started to find that although alike in some aspects, these two characters are very different from one another. At first I noticed that both Goodman Brown and Paul are starved for attention, but in different ways. Next, I see that each character has issues with their past and are both trying desperately to overcome them. Finally, I found that each character 's main goal in life was the desire to become something outstanding in their communities. Each of these points is evidence that although similar, each character has many different views on how to accomplish their goals.…

Can two characters from a totally different story be somewhat similar to each other? Most of the time when asked to think of similar characteristics to another person the words gender, looks, and personality come to mind. It is not all cases though that any of those descriptive words match the similarities of the characters. Miss Emily is a stubborn and naive person, who wants to live in the past and let the future pass her by. Then we have Granny Weatherall, who like her name as to weather all the storms thrown in her direction. Two different people, but yet they share so many similarities and differences.…
