“Should states enact laws that require girls to be vaccinated against HPV?”

Gardasil, a vaccine that protects against HPV (human papillomavirus), has practically become a household word in the United States since it was approved in 2006.
TV commercials featuring young girls chanting "I'm going to be one less" are quite commonplace, and now the vaccine, which protects against the four types of HPV that potentially lead to cervical cancers and genital warts, is being recommended for girls aged 11 to 26.

laws and regulations. To date, 21 states provide funding for HPV education and/or vaccination and two states as well as D.C. mandate HPV vaccination (The Henry J. Kaiser Foundation, 2016). Unfortunately, Tennessee is one of 29 states that does not offer any such funding (The Henry J. Kaiser Foundation, 2016). The lack of state mandated funding coupled with the absence of guidelines for HPV screenings and surveillance has resulted in either inconsistency of care of high-risk populations among providers or a lack of appropriate care within this select population. Therefore, providing APCT in the VCSC will allow for consistent screening and care for high-risk populations.…

As a future nurse practitioner, I strongly agree with the science and evidence-based knowledge, which states that having a society who is strongly urged to comply with the best practices of vaccinations greatly reduces preventable diseases. Universal vaccination is a critical part of quality health care and should be accomplished through routine and intensive vaccination programs implemented in physicians’ offices and in public health clinics (McKee 2016). It’s simple, vaccines are necessary and in many parts of the world these diseases are still prevalent. Nurse practitioners can have an overall positive effect on parents’ decision to immunize once fully informed of the positives and negatives of vaccines. Another reason I believe immunization…

According to Gadzikowski (2013), administrators must make sure that each child's health records, such as an immunization history, are complete at the time of enrollment, in accordance with any state or local regulations. I believe that all children should be vaccinated to protect public health and schools should require this before enrollment. One of the main reasons parents choose not to immunize their child is due to the risk associated with vaccinations, however vaccinations are now safer and more effective than ever before. Before vaccinations are approved and licensed they go through years of testing for safety and effectiveness, however some will experience mild and short…

Outbreaks of highly contagious childhood diseases like small pox, polio, measles and whooping cough have started to resurface. 50 years ago, parents and children could tell you the name of a person they knew that suffered from these diseases. That is no longer the case; most people have no direct knowledge of these diseases. Until recently, practicing doctors had not seen an active case due to immunization of children over the last several generations. Without the knowledge of these diseases, parents are wondering why they need to vaccinate their children. Some parents perceive the risk of the side-effects to be larger than the risk of the disease.…

Vaccines are thus far one of the best creations in medical history due to the significant number of people who have benefited from it. Vaccines reduce the risk of infection by working with the body’s natural defense system to safely develop immunity to diseases (Center for Disease Control). Previous studies have been conducted to track the passageway of vaccines within the human body to prevent viruses such as Yellow Fever. This paper reveals what the virus Yellow Fever is along with some symptoms individuals with the virus face. These days the debate on vaccines is growing more heated as each day passes. Some Americans, many of whom are concerned parents, argue that the overuse of vaccinations at an early age can lead to the development of a form of Autism and has even led to a widespread movement of parents refusing to vaccinate their children. Those who continue to support vaccinations rebuke this idea stating that there is no scientific proof that vaccinations are a leading cause of autism and other learning disorders. Vaccines save lives, they say, not take them. In the piece above it shows obvious support for the argument that vaccines are a successful, reasonable solution to eradicate or simply avoid contraction…
