Persuasive Speech: Don T Get The HPV Vaccine

Title: HPV (Human Papillomavirus)
Specific Purpose: To persuade the audience on why all of them should get the HPV vaccine.
Central Idea: That both genders should by well persuaded to get the vaccine knowing how common it is, how you get it, and how to prevent it.
Introduction:
I. Sex, everyone has it and everyone likes it. It can only stay this way unless everyone protects their self in advance as well as during. A. I’m sure most, if not everyone, in here has had sexual intercourse. The question is, have you been treated for HPV? B. The Human Papillomavirus is very common in the world today. C. HPV is the most commonly sexually transmitted infection. A. According to Centers for Disease and Protection, “there are more than 40 HPV types that can infect the genital areas of males and females. These HPV types can also infect the mouth and throat. Most people who become infected with HPV do not even know they have it.” B. When you think of HPV don’t think of herpes or HIV. These cause different symptoms and health problems. HPV is usually clear of the body in two years. Signs and symptoms of this are genital warts in both the male and female and very rarely warts in the throat. Other HPV types can cause cervical cancer. These types can also cause other, less serious cancers, including cancers of the vulva, vagina, penis, anus, and head and neck (tongue, tonsils and throat). C. The warts in the throat are called recurrent respiratory papillomatosis or RRP. This can cause blockage in the airway and even a hoarse voice. Like mentioned earlier, very rarely do people get this. D. Another interesting fact about HPV is that pregnant women can pass it on to their newborn child. E. Not only is it very common, but it is also easy to get if you aren’t
