Background and History
Glastonbury Festival is a contemporary arts event that features dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret, and many other art performances. The first event began in 1970, on September 19thjust after Jimi Hendrix died. And the Glastonbury festival was first organized by Michael Eavis, the first festival was called Pilton Festival. The event itself was inspired by a visit to the Bath Blues Festival held not too far at Shepton Mallet, and the place where he started a great Glastonbury tradition. The reason why Michael Eavis was thinking to create an event such a Glastonbury Festival is because He wanted to pay off his mortgage and farm. Besides dance and other performances that I mention above, the entertainment also consists of rock, pop, acoustic, jazz, and the Avalon Stages. The Glastonbury festival was influenced by the “hippie” ethics and the free festival. The word “hippie” itself is adapted from “hipster”.The reason that Glastonbury Festival was influenced by the hippies, because hippies always had a major effect in culture, and influencing the popular music. Also because the youth movement becomes kind of trend for the young people, some of them created their own communities. The cultures have made such a huge effect from food to music festivals. The Glastonbury Festival located in Worthy Farm, which situated in a valley at the head of the Whitelake River, between limestone ridges, part of the southern edge of the Mendip Hills. The problem that the farm had experienced in 1997 and 1998 festival was flooding.

However on May 25th, it was announced that U2 had cancelled their performances, because Bono, the vocalist had the recovery from his recent back surgery. Bono himself issued his statement that he was disappointed, the following day it was announced Gorillaz that fill U2 performances. The lineup was not perfect without the special guests appearances such as Radiohead, Kylie Minogue, ScissorSissters, and other performances by the special guest. As we know that the Glastonbury Festivals divide into some stages, normally the special guest will be performing in the “Pyramid stage”. Also the price for the Glastonbury Festivals in 2010 was £185. Then the Glastonbury Festival 2011 will be on June, and approximately on the last weekend on...
