The city has a nice blend of many different cultures and ethnicity which allows people of a race or culture to feel comfortable within. Each member of the community participates by helping and giving back to the community by volunteering their time, monies or resources that they have available. It is not a must that each member is required to give back, because as we all know there are always those that are less fortunate than others or perhaps could be struggling. The community members are to pull resources together to lend a helping hand where needed to those that need it.…

Whether it be helping with school decorations, planting trees in the garden, or cleaning up garbage, doing service allows me to both aid my community and to know exactly how I am aiding it. It is for this reason that I enjoy community service. Often, I will sign up to help with small, individual community events. For example, a few weeks ago, I allocated six hours to help set up and operate various activities at the River Hill Community Health Fair. I am also a member of the American Red Cross, and frequently help blood donors at the Columbia Red Cross Blood Donor Center. Whether it be helping the community learn more about health, or helping facilitate blood donations to the needy, I know exactly how I help in community…

One thing that I would love to do to improve my community would be to be apart of a foster family. I would love my family to foster a child, preferably younger than me. This would improve the community in my mind, because I would be helping a hopeless child experience love in a beautiful way. The definition of community is a group of people living in the same place or the feeling of fellowship with others in which you can share your common attitudes, interests and goals. Many people look past orphans and children without homes when you hear the word community; however, that is what first comes to mind in my head. I personally am drawn to orphans, because my cousins are adopted and I personally want to adopt.…

With the money we help raise, World Vision sends vaccines, clean water, and food to villages that are in need of health supplies. During our famine, we fast for 30 hours to get a small taste of what hungry people around the world feel like when they have no means of getting food. This service has really opened up my eyes to the poverty that happens not only to the children in Asia or Africa, but people in my own community.…

The article I have chosen is about LeBron James giving back to the community of Akron. He wants to decrease the dropout rate of students in school by motivating them to stay in school and study. The Akron school area has a dropout rate of 24 percent which is a lot of students giving up on their life and potentially becoming nothing. When LeBron launched this program called Wheels for Education he talked to 342 third graders because it is known for students to start giving up on school in third grade. LeBron spent some time with these young kids and the dropout rate decreased and over 92 percent of those students ended up finishing high school with a diploma. LeBron went through the same difficulties in his time as a high school student that is why he is trying to help these kids that are facing the same problem as him. LeBron himself now is a very accomplished citizen. He plays professional basketball for the Miami Heat and has won MVP and a NBA championship ring as well. LeBron has got two gold medals from the Olympics as well. He is a very outstanding player. The kids look at him like a remodel which is very great that he does what he does and gives back to the community by enforcing that studying is the key to success for the kids in Akron.…

I serve the community through many different ways. I volunteer to help with things going on around the community, for example, I have signed up to help with registration for a race that was going on at a local gym. I have also contributed in helping kids and adults with special needs. I helped at Farm, teaching these people how to ride horses and communicate with others. Riding horses helped them learn how to use their body more efficiently. I feel as all of us that had the chance to contribute in helping them changed these adults and kids lives. They also changed ours on how we look at people. At the farm I also have taught at horse camp with the 8 and under kids. Being a counselor isn’t as easy as I thought it would be. You really have to teach the kids good communication with others around them and also some rules and morals that they will hopefully carry on in life. Like, forgiving each other, and not to hold grudges against one another.…

I volunteered to attend Monterey Elementary school and Curtis Middle School to present some examples of the things we do in the health academy. For example, we brought some real pig lungs to Monterey and attached them to a tube in order for air to go through, causing it to expand and close. What I enjoyed the most was hearing those children gasp of amazement and look so interested at what they were witnessing. Furthermore, I was very surprised at how smart those kids were. For instance, we would ask them some simple questions, but some of them would tell us facts about the anatomy of a heart. That honestly astonished me but also made me radiant at how our young generation is developing. Another way I make my community better is participate in the fundraising for the varsity school soccer team in order for us to take a part in tournaments and hiking trips. Finally, I believe going to school is a way to help the community because students want to lean towards fields like police officer, doctor, nurse or firefighters and these are a few jobs of all the variety that help out the community by keeping it…
