In freshman year, I was placed in the honors Biology course. I had a lot of difficulty the first semester and never really attempted to study much. I didn't want the second semester to be the same as the first semester, so I tried a lot harder by studying for every test and doing every assignment that was given. In the end of the semester, I earned an A with all of my hard work. In order for students to take an AP class at our school, we must apply to the class with an application. Acceptance is based on our grades from the previous semester which were not so good for me. I ended up applying for two AP classes, one of them being AP Biology. Unfortunately, I wasn't accepted into the any of the classes and was really discouraged the rest of the…

While reading this article I reflected and thought about things I could have changed. What popped into mind was my AP History class. At the beginning of the year I had told myself that I would retake all tests I had done poorly on and done all extra credit opportunities but I didn’t follow through. I realized in the second semester that I had not done what I said. I currently have an A- in the class but that still doesn’t average my class grade to an A. I feel like if I would have pushed myself more I could’ve had an A both semesters. Like Socrates said, “ You have to want it as much as you want air.”…

When I first walked into her office I was really down about my grade because I recently failed my first test and it brought my average really down. I asked if there was any way I can bring my grade up and she told me how a student can retake one test out of three for full credit. This information made me really happy and gave me a chance to still make an A in the class. I also asked about extra credit, and Professor Hawkins explained the extra credit assignments and told me that attendance is also 25 percent of…

Only after carefully checking my work would I go to my professor for the reasons of this failing grade. If there was no misunderstanding and I deserved this, then I would feel grateful to my professor for letting me know where I was wrong. But if I felt it was not fair and my professor was unwilling to accept it, I would give up as well. I am a student and Professors are my supervisors, just like the situation above. In this case my guiding statement shows me another benefit. It reassures that unfair treatment is everywhere, urges me to make double efforts in order to success; half would be used to outweigh people’s unjust actions.…

    Good Professors

To begin with, the first kind of professors is an easy grader who is the most preferable kind to students in the university. Large proportions of students want a professor with zero workload, top grading, and no attendance and at the end they expect getting an A, however, this professor may explain or may not explain at all but this isn’t students’ concern who don’t care about learning. Easy grader professors most probably have a weak academic level, which annoys good students who really want to learn. For example, last semester I had to take a natural science course as a core curriculum, I took with a professor, which was extremely easy; she gives many bonuses through the whole semester, very easy assignments but I didn’t understand anything from the materiel she explained, she just read the slides so I struggle a…

When i was in 9th grade I almost failed my history class and I was concerned about my gpa as well. Coming into 9th grade I thought it was going to be really easy in 9th grade but I think the real problem was that I was not focused At that time i really didn’t know what gpa was and when i got to 10th grade after the first marking period i had a 3.0 gpa, i didn’t expect that because in the first period of my 10th grade year i did really well but then i was told the reason it was low was because of my 9th grade year. Sometimes I wish I could go back to 9th grade and redo the grade. History class was not the only class that I was worried about because I was just passing some of the other class as well. After the first semester my parents, teachers were all concerned about me and their attention just gave me more pressure to do good. If i could just go back in time to fix the problems I had that year I really think that would help me get a better gpa and make me a better student.…
