Get-Real Behind The Wheel Reflection
I have completed roughly 600 hours of community service. In addition to the organizations listed on my application, I have volunteered with the Salvation Army, Get Real Behind the Wheel, Delta Blood Bank, and at local junior golf and basketball camps. Get Real Behind the Wheel is a local organization that gives student drivers a safe environment to practice and they preach safe driving, educating students and parents of the dangers of driving. In my first two years of high school, I played basketball. I was named captain and "Most Valuable Player." As for golf, I was awarded "Most Improved" my freshman and sophomore years and "Most Inspirational" my senior year. My senior year I set the school record for lowest round in Sections, a level

My chapter of Alpha Phi Omega is Alpha Beta Zeta, located at Radford University. Each member is required to get 35 community service hours each semester. Service projects occur around the New River Valley and help a variety of community organizations. Projects I have worked on include: cleaning a local daycare center, performing trail maintenance along a portion of the Appalachian Trail, collecting food for Meals on Wheels, raising money for different causes, running youth programs for Boy Scouts and 4-H events, cleaning our Adopt-A-Spot, beautifying local parks, and many other programs. It has also kept me on track with the things I need to need get done during my senior year in order to be able to attend college; for example, college application deadlines, scholarship deadlines, and taking tests (placement, SAT ACT).…

To me community service means to help out the community by performing jobs and services without receiving payment. The community service that I performed was at the Habitat for Humanity. All I really did during this time was restock the store, help load and unload furniture, clean the store, rearrange the furniture in the store, and help customers load and unload furniture. I chose this organization because it was the closest place I could find and I really needed all of my community service hours at the time.…

While at Annville Cleona High School, I participated in many clubs and activities both in and out of school. I busied myself outside of school through my job and by completing many hours of community service. For my job, I work at a local movie theater as a crew member and have recently been awarded as employee of the month for August. This position has helped me step out of the realm of Annville by making friends with employees from out of town and also improve my communication and develop customer service skills. As for my service hours, I have volunteered at numerous locations including but not limited to the Ronald McDonald House, Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, A Tail to Tell Puppy Mill Rescue, and YMCA’s Camp Shand. During my time at these places, I was able to interact and brighten the days of sickly children, act as a…

During my four years of high school I was involved in Key Club, Tennis, UC Scholars, CSF, FFA, and Friday Night Live. I wish I could have dedicated more time to each event. Since I always challenged myself academically, I never really had all the time to focus on Key Club or another sport. I always had tutorial for one of my AP classes. If I could go back I would join more clubs, and dedicate more time to each. I am proud that I did join Key Club and Mentoring. I have learned a lot in both clubs.…

Doing volunteer work is a great way to get involved within a community. The Houston Food Bank is a place that I had been in before. In my experience I have found that I really like to volunteer and I plan on going back in the near future. Volunteering has helped me in exploring my interests and abilities. It is through volunteer opportunities that I have learned how to communicate with others and acquire skills that can transfer into the workplace. When trying to find a job, employers look for volunteer experience because that just shows them that you take time out of your life to help others.…

My community service experience took place in my local area in Sylmar. I was volunteering at Angels of the Valley, which is a facility that they take care of seniors and patients. I assisted the administrator, she showed me a lot of things and explained what is her role in her job. I found this very interesting. I believe that community service and volunteerism like this are very important. By spending your free time helping others in their community, you can experience and learn new things like what I did in this facility by preparing and giving the patients right of medicine, cooking food for them, and supervise the whole facility.…
