Garbage Men Everywhere: The Real Cost Of Robots
Have you ever seen or heard about autonomous robots? Well, scientists are introducing new systems that can be a help to our everyday lives. But, there are major flaws that can cause more danger than help to innocent people. First of all, robots are often expensive and not as efficient as humans. According to the website article, “The Real Cost of Robotics”, Robots can be very expensive. The smallest price can be as high as $1000. Even with their prices being huge, the robots can still malfunction or have system bugs at any point in time. (Slepov). Also, in the article “Atlas, The Next Generation”, it tells that robots aren’t perfected so that causes them to not do things that humans can do better. Also, they are slow and take a longer time …show more content…
According to the article “This Robot Could Replace Garbage Men Everywhere”, all around the world, robots are getting so popular that they are starting to take over people’s jobs. The robots do the same things as humans except they go really slow. Some of the fastest ones can only go 25 miles per hour, where a person can do simple things so much faster. (Muoio). Also in the article “This Robot Could Replace Garbage Men Everywhere”, there are special autonomous robots that can do the same work as garbage men. The problem is, they’re not as efficient as humans. They’re super slow and they are not completely perfected, which could be a hazard to near bystanders. Another thing is, what will the garbage men do when they are laid off of their jobs to be replaced by reluctant robots. (Muoio). Finally, autonomous robots can be dangerous. According to the article “Report Cites Dangers of Autonomous Weapons”, autonomous robot systems can be hacked easily and be used for illegal weapons that can go off and harm and possibly even kill their target or cause mass destruction. (Markoff). Updated news from the article “No Driver Required!”, self driving cars can also cause damage, There have been 17 accidents, most without majorly hurting the passengers. The accidents were mostly caused by other vehicles, but they prove that the self driving cars aren’t ready to get on the road yet permanently.
