Garage door openers are mandatory for people who have garages, because they add safety to your home, and they save you precious time due to the fact that you don't have to manually open and close the garage door by having them installed. In addition, you no longer have to leave the car when it rains or snows to open and close the door either, therefore they protect you from the bad weather as well.
If you want to buy a garage door opener which you intend to install on your own, read the following lines to find out what steps you have to take to install it yourself.
The first thing you have to do before starting the actual installation of the garage door opener is to make sure your garage door opens and closes properly.

It's better to have the garage door open when you install the garage door opener, because it's easier to align the opener with the center of the door this way.
To assemble the opener, follow the instructions shown in the manual it came with, mount the rail to the bracket above the door, and place the opener on a ladder in the spot where you're going to install it.
When it comes to hanging the garage door opener, instead of using the strap that comes with the opener, hang the opener with angle iron, because it's a more solid mounting that resists to vibration and has a longer life.
After you have finished installing the garage door opener, it's time to install the new photoelectric eyes and wall button that come with the opener, because they are designed to work with it, therefore you can throw the old ones out.
After you have finished installing the garage door opener, you can test the system to make sure that it operate smoothly.
