There is a lot of basics to survive your freshman year. You have to try to stay on the good said with the seniors. Occasionally, the upperclassman will pick on you because you are the youngest in the school. Also, try to do your work in the high school. This is not middle school anymore where the teachers just tell you the answers. Starting your freshman year, start looking at colleges and what you want to be when you graduate because colleges will look at that with your grades. Don’t think all the upperclassman is friends with you because just because they talk to you doesn’t mean they aren’t going to pick on you for being the youngest. Try to stay on the teacher’s good side too because they don’t always let you return in late work especially…

Make sure you have all the supplies you need. I suggest 3-ring binders for your core classes and folders with prongs for any elective classes. Make sure to have college ruled paper and dividers if the teacher asks for you to have them. If your teacher likes to lecture, like most of mine, have a spiral notebook for notes. The pages are less likely to rip out than loose-leaf. Keep papers in chronological order, they'll be easier to find later when studying. If your binder starts to get full, take out the old papers and put them in another binder to keep at home. This way you won't have to lug them around, but they will be there when studying for semester tests.…

The first day of school, and even more exciting, the first day of middle school. Sixth grade! Oh how grown up I thought I was! Unfortunately, though, my euphoria quickly dissipated. Whilst standing at the bus stop fantasizing about all of the friends I would make and the fun projects I would do, the other kids at the bus stop started to laugh at me and call me names. They were making fun of the fact that I didn’t wear matching clothes. This was the first time that I realized that I was being made a laughing stock because of my individuality.…

From Holly Springs to Apex we moved in a rush and as soon as possible. I kept to myself mostly not wanting anything to do with leaving the house or talking to anyone but occasionally my family. The first day of middle school is one I’ll remember for a long time. All my friends from elementary school were all going to a different middle school then I was so on the first day I knew absolutely no one. Because we moved so late in the summer I was considered a late transfer student, so on the first day of school they still hadn’t made my schedule yet. I was stuck in the office fighting back tears for all of my first 3 periods waiting for them to finally finish my schedule. Because I was late to my classes on the first day I had to wait to set up…
