First Day at College
My first day at college was what one could only call absolute bliss. I woke up at 4:30 in the morning to drive three and a half hours down to . When we first arrived on campus my parents hustled me out of the car to go stand in line to get my key and my card activated. This process, while important, was my least favorite part of the day. Waiting in line with hundreds of other teenagers moving at a snail’s pace. But finally after everything was taken care of we got to go to to set up my belongings in my dorm.

As my heart pounded with excitement, it stopped suddenly when my eyes came across the other 200 students also moving in at the same exact time. I couldn’t help but wonder if this could have been handled in a better fashion while standing in the endless line for the elevator. Never the less, when me and my father finally got up to the room and opened the door, my heart only sunk lower realizing what I had just gotten myself into.

The room look as if I were about to spend the first semester of my college life in a jail cell. This wasn’t helped by the fact that not five minutes after walking through the door my RA comes in and gives me a list of all the damages and problems in the room. Moldy shower head, stains on the carpets, writing on the walls, just to name a few. After I was settled in my parents and I had a nice lunch and said their

I dreaded the alarm that woke me up at 6:30 in the morning. It was as loud as a screaming toddler that could be heard for miles. I groggily got out of bed and got ready for my first day of school. It was a weird feeling not putting on a uniform like I had been for the past nine years, but I also enjoyed that freedom. The nervousness became more and more intense as I could closer and closer to campus. When we arrived, I got out of the car, and watched my dad drive off to go take my younger sister to school. There was no going back now; I had no other choice than to walk through those doors. I felt like my throat was in my stomach. I noticed some familiar faces, and I walked towards them. While I was approaching my friends, a senior, facing toward me, walked passed. He must have been at least six feet tall, which was incredibly intimidating for me at just over five feet. I was not used to the fact that I’d potentially have classes with these giants. Additionally, the array of new teachers, and having to learn all of their teaching styles and things they did or did not tolerate was hard in…

“Your welcome” the whole class said in unison. Later we figured out we sat in the room for all of 2 hours in which felt like 5 minutes. We walked in and sat down by the cone assigned to our class and waited for the other classes to come in. Between the bright lights, kids talking, the small space given to each class and the smell of floor cleaner, I felt nauseous. I could feel my breakfast coming up out of my stomach.…

The transition from high school to college in itself is a frightening experience in some way for everyone whether it be moving away from home or the vastness of a college campus others learn from these new experiences. Many very important lessons are learned outside the classroom in college but there is also so much to be learned about who you are in the classroom as well. When someone first sees Composition I on their schedule the first day of college they might think that this class is going to be tedious, boring, and nothing but writing essays, after a few class periods though they will begin to realize that this class is much more than that. Composition one from my perspective was like dipping your toes into water to test and see if you are ready to go in or not, the water may be too warm or cold at first but that is no reason to shy away from it, if they jump right in they will find that the positives far outweigh the negatives.…

The last thing I want to be doing right now is walking down my driveway in the cold at 7 am. My breath is swirling in circles in front of me. The wind gently blowing against me and sends shivers throughout my body. The fresh dew on the grass was shimmering under the morning sunlight. The smell was fresh and crisp and smelled comforting to me. My mom peering down on me to make sure I was safe at the bottom of the driveway, her eyes never leaving my sight. I rolled my eyes because even though I was old enough not to have her watch me, she did it just incase.. I start thinking about what Disney Channel said today was going to be like.. I shake away my thoughts, I hear something coming from down the street. I listen to the sound closely. It gets louder and louder and louder until its right around the corner. A car flies past me. I sigh with relief. I look back to see if my mom is still waiting, of course she is with her coffee pressed to her lips, then I turn back around to see the school bus slowly coming to a stop in front of my driveway. I took my time walking to the bus, then get on it and take a seat. I say hi to my friends on the bus and then plug my headphones in. I could smell the perfume from some girl on the back of the bus and see two girls bickering in the seat in front of me. Then it really hit me, today was my first day of high school.…

I remember running through the automatic glass doors into the tall cool building to escape the heat. Finally inside I pulled out my schedule from my back pocket unfolded it and checked which floor I need to go and rode the elevator up. Finally at the fourth floor I walked my way down the hall and to the classroom door. I was nervous as I reached for the handle not sure what I would find inside seeing as I was ten minutes early the classroom could have been empty. As I opened the door I saw most of the people I had spent the orientation day with inside conversing with each other. I also found an unexpected friend I had in high school which put much of my nerves to ease. After about fifteen minutes of catching up we started to wonder when the professor was going to arrive or if we were in the right class to begin with. Just as the rest of the class was going to ask someone from the office next door about what to do our professor walks in. He came in a frantic rush apologizing for being late. Now my first class of college has finally begun. As most classes…

Monday wasn’t just an ordinary day. It was my first day of classes at Anoka Ramsey Community College! As I pull up to the parking lot of the campus. I was afraid to go to class, I noticed my heart is bashing. It is a mixture of cheerfulness and jitters.Suddenly many questions race through my mind. What if I fail? Am i sure I’m ready for this chapter in my life? I dont know what obstacles i will overcome later in my day but i know i am ready physically and mentally of whatever i face during my college years. I’ve always been the competitive type , and theres no way im about to turn back.I entered to my class 10 minutes late of time because I was so hasty, only to find a parking lot space way in the back. After speed walking to class. Instantly i noticed that the classroom was set up differently from highschool. It was leveled and the professor was in the bottom level next to the white board. As i panic to make a quick glare at the open seats which in this case there were absolutely no seats that were empty. I seen a girl sitting on the floor next to where i was standing. Right away i sat besides her. As the professor monologues about the sylabus and course expections. I daze off and start to ask my self "How on earth was I late on the first day of class". Way to start off the year i recalled. He dismisses us early. After class was over I quickly gathered my things and preceded to the next classroom location. This time I came in 15 minutes earlier . Feeling happy! That im early. As I select a seat and begin to arrange my materials for what the professor is about to discuss about, assuming its more syllabus time. I relized that im not just a number, but an individual with an infinite amount of potential to grow into whatever I desire. After patiently waiting inside my class room for approximately 10 minutes, still no one showed. I then became worried and questioned myself once again. Am I in the wrong place? Do I have the correct time?. I pulled out my…

To sum up, my first week is like a journey filled with questions and answers, new people, new stories, discovery, determination and inspiration. As a matter of fact, entering into law school is a terrifying and an overwhelming experience as I thought of when I planned for the said path. On the very first morning in this university, I did not really want to go, because my heart was lingering memories of high school. It’s a well established case of when the fear of the unknown is the greatest fear of all. But it went exactly opposite to what I thought of, because everyone here is friendly and most freshmen are in the same boat as me with not knowing many people. My friends and suite-mates completely got along from the second we meet and they are like my best friends here. What I disliked at the instance here was the social atmosphere which is very heavily dominated by caste based politics and hypocrites. But it is not what I actually perceived, I feel like it is more of a stepping stone into the real world. As in It will be a life changing experience for the better. Though Being homesick is sometimes rough especially because the distance is not so far. I just seem to remember why I am here and what my goals are and that gets me through it. The professors seem to be lenient and understanding so that is a major plus. But the major setback is the heated Aravali which makes the walk to class tiring and make me look like a lost freshman.…

Have you ever been so excited that your heart can’t stop beating? That’s how I was my first day at the university. I was very excited, but also I was frightened. I was about to meet the people who were going to be with me for four years. I kept asking myself; “would they be nice? Can I meet some good friends here?” That morning I woke up too early and arrived at the university early. When I got there, I just sat on the Philosophy Department stairs waiting for someone else to arrive.…
