First 100 Days
First 100 Days
Aquino Administration
By: Mark Jeffrey C. Dalimot

“First impression lasts,” we have new president and people have very high expectations of him, he should make positive actions in his first 100 days in the office. After getting an overwhelming mandate in May 10 polls, President-elect-Benigno “Noynoy”
Aquino III will go down in history as country’s first bachelor president. In his first State of the Nation Address (SONA), he focuses on corruption matters among officials. I hoped that all of the platforms will be realized. Do you think that P-NOY will continue the legacy of democracy, peace, and congress of his parents especially his mother former President Corazon Aquino who just died a year ago? After her husband’s murder catapulted her into a national leadership rate, Cory Aquino helped to bring down the Marcos dictatorship. P-NOY inherits the economic problem from erstwhile President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, the million peso credit of National Food Authority (NFA) in the middle of rice shortage in the year 2009. But now, we’re like swimming in the rotten imported rice which is excess from imports. The first 100 Days seem to refused the quiet unassuming nature of the second President Aquino, without a doubt the rebuilding process is taking place underneath our vey noses with the same characteristic of the man running the show quiet, unassuming, with fewer frills. This survey is just an opinion if you are satisfied or dissatisfied with the Aquino Administration. So now, are you SATISFIED or DISSATISFIED?

To end the “wang-wang” culture in the government, there are some of the ways or solutions that our government had achieved. The ratings of hunger has dropped from 20.5% in March to 15.1% this June, as said by the Filipino families who used to be hungry but now can eat properly every day. The upgrade of credit ratings. proper taxation. Solutions for anomalies in Region 4B. From 1.3 million metric tons of rice storage, it has gone down to 660 000 metric tons as Aquino said “Ang gusto nating mangyari: Una, hindi tayo aangkat ng hindi kailangan, para lang punan ang bulsa ng mga gusting magsariling-diskarte ng kita sa agrikultura; Ikalawa: Ayaw nating umasa sa pag-angkat, ang isasaing ni Juan dela Cruz ditto ipupunla, ditto aanihin, ditto bibilhin”. He also implemented the pabahay for the policemen and soldiers by awarding 4000 Certificate of Entitlement to Lot Allocation. Also, soon we will have the possibility in upgrading modernization of equipments for our armed forces, this goes to show how far our economy will go with good governance, and we can buy equipments at good prices without having to place envelopes in anyone’s…

Marcos opponents in that election won that’s Liberal party in which people who became the victim of Plaza Bombing. On 1972 all of the people contradict to Marcos or his enemies were arrested by police and the military. Including Benigno Aquino became his mortal enemy. Many people arrested. Nobody knows what is happening because all of the media controlled by Marcos all you can hear is just music. The government set Plebiscite to produced new constitution but soon he realized that he might lost because all people are in favor for Benigno and Diokno so he changed it to voting through raising hands, even kids were allowed to vote and then they will going to ask, who wants free food, because of poverty many people will raised they’re hands. The Philippines is a democratic country. Under a democratic system of government, an individual plays an important role in his community and his country as a whole. Each and every one of us is tasked with the responsibilities of participating in its administration, contributing to its development and to serve for the common good. There are times when our expectation of a good government performance may not always be satisfied for some of public officials may not respond favourably to every people’s needs. Yet, no matter what happens, for better or for worse, everyone, both the rich and the poor, the simple man and the elite, the masses and the high officials, all are married to this great duty of steering our country straight towards national prosperity and development. Now that our country is slowly leaving its crisis-torn past and gradually rising towards economic stability, it is greatly in need than ever before, the cooperation of every concerned citizen, in order to heal its persistent socio-economic and political problems. The progress of our country cannot be achieved by the sole industry and intelligent supervision of its administrator without the support and cooperation from the people.…

PNoy’s speech was very comprehensive since it almost tackled all important issues in our country and he made it more specific by using numbers and certain rates to prove the progressing economy. He also confidently mentioned his administration’s great achievements and accomplishments on different aspects of our society particularly the political and economic aspects. Included in his successful administration were the program Pantawid ng Pamilyang Pilipino Program commonly known as the 4Ps, producing more TESDA scholars, housing programs for informal settlers (main cause of flooding). The President also mentioned the domination of his senatorial candidates in May 2013 elections proving that he has regained the trust of the Filipino people in the presidency. He also made thankful remarks for the police officers with their great acts and also other department secretaries and extended his praises to the exemplary public servants. He ended his speech by saying he was proud to be a Filipino and it is wonderful to be a Filipino in these times.…

Enough with the siren-horse-shit. A new president being proclaimed has to inspire hope somehow. Despite the everyday hardship and the promises being continuously broken, we filipinos never loses hope. I guess we are resilient by nature and it’s among our strength as a nation. Now with a new administration governing our country, we again hold that hope that this time around the people in power would strive for the people, and not for themselves.…

I just want to say that I like it when he delivered his speech in Filipino. Because it is our own language and not everyone understand English therefore using this language will make it understandable for all the people in our nation. But some of the President’s statement in his speech seems to be not real, a fantasy because I cannot feel it. I can’t feel that we are now developing, that our country now is rising. It doesn’t reflect the way the people here in our country live. Also, I don’t like the way he compares his year of presidency to the past president instead he should just focus on how to really improve the life of each people that he governs to. The positive side of his speech for me is that the government is really now moving to remove the corruption in their system that they are not afraid of facing their co-worker, exposing the dirty jobs of some authorities. With the actions they do about the different problems our country is facing. For doing his best in changing our nation. Sadly to say accidents are really uncontrollable, you never knew when something bad will happen even though you have done everything you could to prevent it. Just like what happen in Mamasapano where lots of people died. It’s just so good to hear that those people who died had given an honorarium. All in all to summarize my reaction I could say that President Aquino’s SONA is thumbs up for me despite of some flaws in it.…

The recent death of the former president Corazon C. Aquino has made us reminiscent of her major contribution in bringing back the democracy in our country. It was the democracy that we almost lost during the martial law era under the leadership of former Ferdinand Marcos. Her role in bringing back the democracy has carried along some other things. One of this is the flourishing of capitalism back in our economic system.…

I am only amazed though to know that in the pluralities of ideas and opinions, sometimes there are those who would fall prey to the trap of total cynicism and political pessimism. That is to see everything on the SONA whether it may be Aquino or other President delivering it as full of lies and full of empty promises. This is the usual reaction of I guess of people who sees everything as darkness and lives inside the cave of ignorance and helplessness. Such pessimistic approach on things dismisses and ignores the capacity of people to be critical, to be vigilant.…
