President Trump’s State of the Union address was presented with a new take on law restrictions, graceful improvements in US infrastructure, as well as a significant rivalry against opposing nations. President Trump proves his nationalism and the power of his country’s patriots through acknowledging heroes like Officer Leppert (who helped out during Hurricane Harvey), Preston Sharp (boy who stood up for veteran respect), and Justin Peck (saved people from a terrorist bombing), in the efforts to show his country that he supports all corners of our nation, while lowering unemployment for certain races, supporting veteran cause, and changing economic rates to provide welfare for everyone of the US, no matter what situation they are in. I have heard pretty much more or less about 10 State of the Nation Addresses by many presidents. They all have told pretty much the same common and general thing, that they being the president of the country for this year have done so much to help the Philippines. With investments coming in, roads and buildings constructed, health, education and insurance growths. Believe me when I say I have heard it all. Pnoy’s SONA is pretty much the same things I have heard other presidents say. They boast numerous and countless achievements in their term but still I have never yet to hear a truthful lay down of the Philippines in pretty much every SONA.…

This is a time for us to remember a man who believed the Filipino was "worth dying for," and from him gather the renewed resolve that the Filipino is worth living for, as well. But let us not sound maudlin. Ninoy would have laughed at such sticky sentimentality. When he was sent by the old Manila Times to cover the Korean War (the 50th anniversary of whose conclusion was just commemorated some weeks ago) he was 17, the youngest correspondent of them all. The Time’s editors Dave Boguslav and Joe Bautista had spotted that gung ho quality in Aquino that was to rocket him to fame — and, in the end, impel him remorselessly to his final rendezvous with treachery at the Manila International Airport.…

State of the Nation Address of His Excellency Raphael Anthony DL. Torres President of the Philippines To the Congress of the Philippines (Delivered at the Session Hall of the House of Representatives, Batasan Pambansa Complex, Quezon City, on January 12, 2013) Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, Speaker of the House Feliciano Belmonte,Vice President Jejomar Binay, Justices of the Supreme Court, distinguished members of the diplomatic corps, honorable members of the House of Representatives and of the Senate, our leaders in the local government, members of our Cabinet, officers of the military and polic, my fellow public servants, and of course, to all the Filipinos now watching here and all over the world, a good day to all! We all know all the hardships that our country faced during the past year. Earthquakes, fires, landslides, deadly typhoons like Pablo and even deadlier rains such as Habagat. But despite all of this, the Philippines, is still a nation to be reckoned with. Ranking 17 th in the world as the most giving, we the Filipino people truly are one of the most selfless and loving people in the world, which only shows that even if we get hit by all these calamities several times and even do it all over again, we can still manage to stand up, help others and smile. That's why this year, we are ready to face whatever calamity may struck us, be it natural or man-made. This new year is not just a new start for all of us. It is also a reminder, not to look back in the past, the problems put on our shoulders by the past, and forget it and just instead, focus on the present and look forward to the future. If we are ready to face the natural and man-made calamities this year, then we are ready to face the face of the brand new Philippines! First, natural calamities are acts of God, to which we can do nothing about. But what we can do is be prepared, especially now that we are experiencing the adverse effects of climate change. That's why, this year the national…
